The six Rs – what are they?

You have been given a jumbled set of R words and definitions. Link each word to the definition you think fits it best.

Now look at the images and suggest which R word (or words) would best fit each image.

As a group, choose a product to redesign. Try to disassemble the product as far as

possible. Each member of the group, in turn, spin the

6Rs spinner. Whichever ‘R’ the spinner lands on, the group should brainstorm the issues.

Use the key questions as a start. Sketch ideas for a redesign of the product.

On Thursday, bring in your favourite snack. Try and find out the answer to the following questions:

Were workers involved in production fairly paid? Were any pesticides and fertilisers used? How far had ingredients travelled to reach your shop? How much processing was involved (and so energy

use)? Are any of the ingredients in short supply? Can the packaging be reused for anything? Can the packaging be recycled? Will the product go into landfill and id so, is it

biodegradable?
