JuNe 28th, 2012 Weekly Publication of Cloud 9 Ranch News & Events
Cloud 9 Ranch Management and Staff would like to welcome each of our Members and their Guests to Cloud 9 for the 2012 Independence Celebration. Many activities have been planned for Cloud 9 Ranch members who will be staying with us during the July 4th holiday. There has been a outstanding effort by the Committees and Clubs to make sure there is some-thing for everyone of all ages.
Cloud 9 Ranch Management and Staff would like to
thank You for visiting The Ranch. It is our sincere de-
sire to make sure you and your family have a wonder-
ful summer vacation.
You will be happy to know that we are now showing
“Family” movies on both Friday and Saturday nights
at the Big Top pool.
If you are planning on a horseback ride, be sure to
make your reservation in the Trading Post. Even
though the weather has been hot, the morning rides
are still very pleasant.
Recently the Ranger Station as been moved to the front
entrance. It is our desire that the additional staffing in
this location will help to speed up the check in time of
our guests who need to register their ATV’s.
In the past, sports equipment such as mini-golf and
basketballs have been available for checkout in the
Ranger Station. To make this equipment more conven-
ient to our members, the equipment checkout is now
located in the Youth Center.
For our new members, we are now offering a “new
member” orientation on Friday mornings. This orienta-
tion is located by the Melody Lane pond every Friday
Morning at 10AM. This is a great way to meet other
new members at Cloud 9 Ranch.
If you find yourself looking for a place to cool down on
the hot afternoons, be sure and cool off at the family
swimming pool or find a shady spot on Spring Creek.
The most popular swimming holes are located at the
Foggy Tubes, The Gravel Bar and Lane Springs in
Sheriffs Hollow. If you have questions in regards to
swimming area rules, please check with the Ranger
staff or Ranch Office for clarification on rule changes.
Again, Thank you for choosing to spend your summer
vacation at Cloud 9 Ranch. We are glad that you are
here and hope that we are able to meet and exceed all
of you camping expectations.
Happy Independence Week!

RRC Camping Tip~
Attention!!! All owners of camping units please be advised that the plug on the cable you plug into the ranch outlet can become very hot from carrying the heavy load of air condi-tioners and other elec-trical items. These have been known to melt and burn the out-let, the plug and the cable. It is advisable to have a spare in your unit. They come in two sizes, 30 and 50 amp. Please check yours and if it is hot or has the burnt electrical smell call the gate house for help. The Trading Post at the ranch carries a few but on holiday weekend they sometimes run out. The melted plug is a common problem and having a spare may save you a trip to town and if it is after hours or on a weekend you may be without electricity.

C9R Conservation committee News
JuNe 28th, 2012 The 9 Lines Page 4
The Cloud 9 Ranch Conservation Committee has
many things going on in the 2012 season. With the lake project still underway, the Conservation Commit-
tee would like to encourage Ranch Members to check out the progress of the new lake. Please be respect-ful of the hard work, donated funds and effort that
has gone into this Ranch improvement. ATV’s are not allowed on the bank area. Please avoid driving in the prohibited areas around the new construction site.
As a reminder, the Missouri Department of Conserva-tion has strict policy against stream abuse. Please
remember that “Joy Riding” is strictly prohibited and ATV’s are not allowed to park in the stream bed. A Ranch Member, Connie Dines, has donated her
time to create a beautifully embroidered quilt to the committee. While you are in the Trading Post, be
sure to check out the quilt and purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win. The raffle tickets are avail-able in the Trading Post 8AM-4PM Monday –Friday.
You can also make your raffle ticket purchase from Tressa in the Cloud 9 Ranch Office. The Conservation Committee would like to thank the
members who have helped to support our fund rais-ing efforts. Our goal is to continually improve and
preserve Cloud 9 Ranch conservation for the benefit of all Ranch Members now and in the years to come.

The Rest of the Story
JuNe 28th, 2012 The 9 Lines Page 5
My first week as a Board Member has been an experience. First I
participated with the Board providing lunch after the annual
meeting. I arranged for an anniversary cake to be brought to the
ranch that portrayed what the ranch was all about. The cake was
in four sections with a stream running through all four and show-
ing what the ranch stands. The top part was Fishing, the second
part was Horseback Riding, the third was Camping and the last
was ATV’s. The cake was beautiful and the lady that designed it
“Rocked it”. But the hard part was transporting it 120 miles to
the ranch in 90 degree temperatures and then keeping it cool for
48 hours and then trying to keep it cool out in the humidity until
it was served. All I can say, it was a beautiful Anniversary
Cake!!!
After winning the one year term, I was immediately elected
Treasurer by the 2012-2013 Board of Directors. It was an honor
to have this vote of confidence from the entire Board and I will
try my best in helping the Ranch move forward with Financial
Transparency. The Board and Management are already hitting
the ground running. Cindi Morrison, Coy Jackson, Angie
McMinn and I will be meeting soon to game plan the budget
process. Working through this process, the Ranch Management
will not only own the budget from the beginning, but the Board
and ultimately the membership via a Budget Committee will also
own the process.
After the Board Meeting on the 16th, I participated in a short fund
raiser for the Cloud 9 Ranch Fire Department while at the Mud
Bog. Fellow new Board Member, Kurt Wilbanks and I got to
play in the mud pit and while doing this we raised over $500 for
the Fire Department. I think I can speak for Kurt on this, we
were both more than happy to do this, but probably won’t be do-
ing it again, as we are both recovering from cuts, scrapes, and
bruises!!! That mud was like wet cement and I may be getting
too old to compete against a Fire Fighter!!! But as I have said
before, any event at the Ranch is a fun event, so you can probably
count me in on most anything!!!
So thank you everybody for your vote of confidence and I hope
that I will be able to make a difference for not only the Board of
Directors, but for the Management Team and all the Owners of
the Ranch!!!
Mag Greig,
Treasurer, Board of Directors

Get Ready For the Parade!
JuNe 28th, 2012 The 9 Lines Page 6
One of the favored traditions at Cloud 9 Ranch is the
July Parade. This year, as Cloud 9 celebrates its’ 40th birthday, the Parade Theme “40 Years of Family
Fun” has been chosen. The parade will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 6PM. In order to efficiently ac-commodate the large amount of participants in the
parade, this year the parade line-up will be in the Melody Lane campground. The line-up for the parade will begin at 5PM. The line up order will start with
the Floats, 2nd will be the ATV’s followed by the Side by Sides and Golf Carts. Each entry will be given a
number to be put on the left side of the vehicle so the judges can see. Spectators are encouraged to view the parade from a
variety of locations along the parade route. The pa-rade will line up in Melody Lane, and take the perime-
ter route through Lonesome Pines. The judges will be viewing the parade from their assigned station which will be near the new ice machine. The parade will
then return back to the pavement and head down Spring Hill. The parade will go up to Hill Country campground and circle back around. The parade will
end at the T-Top building. After the parade has made its way to the T-Top, the judges will announce the
winning decisions. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given out in each of the 3 categories. We hope everyone will come out to watch the parade. It has been reported that some of the floats will have sur-prises for the spectators! This will be a great time for the entire family. We hope you will join us.

able and bring your lawn chairs. You can participate in one or
both of the events. This is a great time to ride the trails and then
kick back and enjoy the company and food of other Ranch mem-
bers. All Ranch members are invited to attend. There is fishing
in the pond and Frisbee (disc) golf baskets in the area. It is a
family affair, and that is what the Cruisers Club is all about.

Kodak Moments
JuNe 28th, 2012 The 9 Lines Page 9
Remember years ago the old time pictures when and old cow-
boy brought around a horse to the neighborhood and yourself
or one of your kids climbed up on the horse and had your pic-
ture taken with that crazy cowboy hat on?
We are recreating that Kodak Moment for the kids of today.
Bring your kids, ages 4-12 to Melody Lane between 5pm & 6pm
on Friday June 29th.
The kids can have their picture taken on one of the Cloud 9
Ranch horses, get a short ride, lead by one of our wranglers,
around the Melody Lane pond area. There will be a limited
number of these rides/pictures available, so it’s first come, first
serve.
Pictures will be available for pickup at the Melody Camphost site
#38 around 4PM on Saturday June 30th. There is no cost, but
donations will be accepted for the C9R Volunteer Fire depart-ment. We will have Frisbees, candy bars and fire hats for the
kids when they pick up their pictures. A BIG thank you goes out
to Chris Bean and his wrangler crew for agreeing to make this
event happen. Without the dedication of our employees, these
type of events would not be possible.

Last Friday evening, kids both young and young at heart gathered
at Valley Star School House to take part in an old fashion hay
ride. Under the direction of Ed Horton, Rex Harrison took the 20
plus participants for a 45 minute hay ride around the Ranch.
Along the way, smiles were abundant and so were the deer! It
was a beautiful evening to take a cool ride around the Ranch.
Campers who were outside as the hay wagon pasted by were very
quick to offer an smile and a wave. A great time was had by all
and new friends were made. What a great way to enjoy C9R.
New friends are always just around the corner. Thank you to all
that helped with the evening by supplying hay, truck, trailer, and
lots of fun for the families who participated.
