The Exalted Ruler’s Message Fellow members…..the Month of May has been a very
busy and fun Month, with 3 drug awareness events, at North
Burlington Little League, Kid’s Day at Battery Park, and Colchester
Little League. Mother’s Day breakfast, a Pig Roast, Lodge clean up
day and of course two of our steak nights, which the 1st was Cinco de Mayo steak night. Thank you to all the volunteers, that make
all of this possible, of course too numerous to mention you all, but
you know who you are.
We also had our Annual PER initiation on May 15th. Every member should try and
attend this event. The PERs take great pride in this event. Come and watch the pros
at their best.
Would you like to help out? Do you want to volunteer? Sign up sheets for future events
Are posted in the members bar, on the bulletin board above the visitors sign in log. You
can also contact myself @ [email protected], or contact one of the Chair persons. I
welcome your involvement.
We also have a big event coming up June 3rd, 4th, and 5th, which is the Special Olympics
that takes place at UVM. This is a huge event that we are all very proud of. Essentially it
involves coordinating the pickup and delivery of donated food for a Friday lunch,
Saturday Dinner, and a Sunday barbecue. There will be a sign up sheet in the members
bar, or you can see myself, Anne Cross, or Rick Boucher for details.
A special thanks goes out to Chris Bissonette. We had a water problem in the basement.
He worked feverishly pumping and vacuuming to keep the water at bay. He figures that
he pumped by himself 2600 gallons….at 16 gallons at a time. Thank you Chris for your
hard work and all the others that helped out to get that water out of there.
Bring a friend to the lodge, show them how Elk’s Care and Elk’s Share. We would love
to meet them.
Fraternally yours, Craig Garrand.

Eldoes Corner
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” We wrapped up another year with the installation of our officers for 2011-
2012 at our May meeting. This year we sponsored more bus trips, revised our by-
laws, tried a Tupperware fundraiser, had a successful bazaar and Sweethearts Din-
ner Dance, and got some new members involved as officers and chairpersons.
Despite the economy and fewer fundraising opportunities, we were still
able to donate a total of $3800 to the following charities: Disabled American Vet-
erans, COTS, Elks National Foundation, Police K-9 Association, Relay for Life, Respite House, Silver Towers, Spectrum, and the Vermont Chapter of the Parkin-
son’s Disease Association.
Anyone who is interested in becoming an Eldoe is welcome to join us in
the fall. Dates to keep in mind are:
September 20: First Regular Meeting
October 18: Potluck Dinner and Silent Auction
November 6: (Sunday) Annual Bazaar
Happy Birthday to the following members who celebrate June birthdays:
Rosalie Brill, Anna Dumont, Jean Moody, Doris Pepin, Nancy Plouffe. Be sure to
mention your birthday at a Steak Night to get your special $5 discount. Thanks to all of you for helping to make my job so much easier. Thanks
to Linda DeLaricheliere for doing 101 little things as well as organizing bus trips.
Thanks to all of the officers for doing your jobs so faithfully and well. Farewell and
thanks to outgoing officers Sally Vachereau, Treasurer; Marilyn Luchini and Mary
McMaster, Members at Large.
Thanks also to these members for going the extra mile:
Jane Williams and Bea Sylvia for running the October Silent Auc-
tion.
Sandy Venditti for chairing the Tupperware Sale.
Mary McMaster for organizing the Bazaar and all the members who
prepared the lunch and worked on the bakery, jewelry, craft, and
white elephant tables. Elaine Neary for running the horse races and providing prizes at Fun
Night.
Anna Dumont, Bev Guest, Bev Zivitski, and Virginia Giroux for the
festive St. Patrick’s Day snacks and decorations.
Bea Sylvia, Linda DeLaricheliere, Janet Bossi, Eileen Campbell, and
Doris Pepin for their work on the by-law revisions.
Gisele Fontaine, Virginia Giroux, and Doris Pepin for acting as the
Nominating Committee.
Louise King for taking over the Spring Raffle.
All the members who acted as hostesses and brought snacks to meet-
ings. Everyone for your support and great ideas.
Lastly I want to thank John Plunkett and the kitchen staff for the delicious meals as
well as the Elks officers and Elks spouses who helped serve and clean up for our
dinners.
Take care, Beth Dusablon, President
