The Exalted Ruler’s Message

Here it is March already. As I write my last message as your Exalted Ruler, it's hard to believe that the year is over. It has truly been quite an experience for me. I have gotten to meet and know so many new people not only in our great Lodge, but also throughout the state. I would like to thank all of the Officers and Trustees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Also a big thanks to everyone that helped me during the year, whether it was serving on a committee, helping with a Steak Night

dinner, or simply supporting one of the many lodge functions. You have helped me in every way, whenever I asked anyone for help or encouragement, you were always there. I am truly grateful for all your help. I send a big thanks to kitchen staff and all of the bartenders who worked to make our lodge a pleasant and enjoyable place for dinners and drinks through out the year. And last but not least I need to publicly acknowledge the support of my wife through the past four years. Thank You, Mary. XOXOX As Mary Paule and the Officers take over, I know that all of you will continue to help and support them as much as you have helped me. That is why I am proud to be part of this Lodge. I will be headed for a five year term as Trustee. I will continue to work hard for OUR Lodge. I plan to be an active Trustee and will help out the Lodge anyway I can.

• It was Feb.13th, the day before Valentine’s Day. I was talk-ing with Margie LaRue. She was saying that her husband Bob was going to take her out to dinner for Valentine’s. I innocently asked if they were coming to the Lodge for the Sweetheart Dance. She just as innocently said, “ Oh no, he always takes me somewhere nice!” I hope she enjoyed her-self.

• Since I put together my Mother-in-law’s new coffee table,

she has purchased 3 matching end tables. I was hurt to learn that not only was I not told that she had made a purchase but she and my wife went behind my back and asked Ron LaRose to put them together. I guess having all four legs securely attached outweighs family loyalty!

• I was at the dentist. I had been fitted for a new crown and

this was the big day. I told the hygienist that it isn’t every-day that you get crowned and I wished my family could be there to witness this. It turns out, I’m glad they weren’t there. As I lay supine in the chair, comfortable and slightly drowsy, I suddenly felt something metallic at the base of my tongue. I immediately began to gag, and to try to sit up, and to dislodge whatever it was in my throat. With the help of the chair I managed to sit up straight, but being unable to egest the offending object, I swallowed it. The dentist rolled into view and urgently asked if I had managed to cough it up. I replied no, I swallowed it. What the heck was it any-way? Your crown was his reply. “What do we do now?” I asked. He said we could get x-rays done to see where it was, but that eventually it would pass. As unpleasant as it was going in, coming to pass sounded even less appealing, so I offered to attempt to regurgitate. The attempt was success-ful and I had the crown in my hand. We got it in place on the next attempt, and all is well. I said to the hygienist how often does that happen. She said it’s a first.

ELDOES UPDATE

“Be the Best of Whoever You Are!”

Our annual Sweetheart Dinner/Dance was held on February 14 and was enjoyed by all who attended. The Eldoes were very pleased with the number of people who purchased tickets – thank you! An excellent dinner menu was served with John at the helm assisted by Chris, Bruce and Steve in the kitchen. Shirley and Hazen Cross with the assistance of Kyle did an outstanding serving job. All were served in a very professional and timely fashion. Sally and Wes Blair once again provided a most entertaining evening. Dancing went on until the midnight hour! The raffle winner of the Valentine Basket was Dan Venditti.

I would be remiss not to mention the support of Mary Paule, for the ticket printing, Kevin Carney, Kari Lopes, Kerry Plunkett, Jean Welch, Lauren, Lisa and Terry for their assistance with the selling of our dinner tickets. Your teamwork went a long way in making this Eldoe event such a success.

February birthdays wishes: Marion Charbonneau, Barb Coon

Pat Francis, Sandy Venditti and Jane Williams

Remember, if you come to Steak Night during the month of your birthday, you will receive $5.00 off the price of your meal.

We would like to welcome back – Janet Handy to the Eldoes.
