Principal Matters
I trust that everyone is now settled back into the habit of school and that students are clearly focused on achieving their best. There have been a myriad of events, I hope you have been able to enjoy some of these events: Open Day and Night, Mocktail Evening for Year 7 parents, P&C Welcome to the School meeting, Congratulations to all the students who proudly served as ambassadors on these occasions, in particular thanks to our Captains Suren Missaghi and Annie Brown, the Hospitality students and the Entertainment crew, and of course the perform-ers who showcased their talents. The first of our Parent Teacher Nights for Years 8, 10, and 12 will be held on 22nd March followed by Years 7, 9 and 11 on 29th March.. Parents who attend these evenings are apprecia-tive of the feedback given to them about their child’s learning. I look forward to seeing you on the evening. I hope this helps parents to provide the guidance students need to perform to their own personal best. Interim reports for Year 7 and 11 which will soon be issued to parents providing an idea of how students have transitioned into their new courses. I hope parents will find our interim re-ports useful in identifying areas of strengths for students and in par ticular areas where students can improve or direct their energies to achieve at an even higher level Next week is the celebration of Harmony Day 21st March. A day run by the Multicultural Committee to celebrate diversity and unity within our school community. Mrs Squires with help from Ms Simpson will organise a day which celebrates the diversity and richness of our society. This week has also seen the beginning of the Max Potential Project. This is a student lead-ership program sponsored by Castle Hill RSL which focuses on firstly personal leadership and then leadership in general. Raneen Hessen, Molly Dallas and Kaylah Walsh Year 11 success-fully won three of these scholarships. I am very proud of our Northmead CAPA High School students.. A school is only as good as its students; our students are impressive and have won-derful skills in a variety of areas. Keely Oswald Year 12 had her wonderful Children’s party dress entered in the Castle Hill Show . The workmanship on this Textiles project was outstanding and she was honoured with a first place. Students from Agriculture have also entered the Castle Hill Show. The students won first, second and a third placing. Congratulations Macey Salecich, Lachlan Vanderburg, Tiffany Naylor, Eleanor Campbell –Rogers and Alyssia Gibbs. Year 7 Chrome Books are well in use. On the 17th March, parents are invited to a Chrome Book Workshop at 6.30pm in the Library., Mr Johnson will lead this learning which will help parents assist their students at home with the functions of chrome books. We have had many enquiries from parents about the provision of chrome books for students in Years 8-11.

Principal Matters
Negotiations with a reputable supplier are currently in place to provide an interest free instalment plan for students in Years 8-11. We will provide information as the details are confirmed. It is wonderful to be back at school and I hope your month has been enjoyable as mine. It is such a pleasure to work with such fine young people on a daily basis. I look forward to seeing you at the next P&C meeting on 6th April. Regards, Narelle

The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is Australia’s leading centre for education and training in the performing arts. Last week, Brittany Hickey and myself were given the most amazing opportunity to attend the university for a brimful week of music, movement, voice, yoga, acting, screen, and microphone skill classes, not to mention immerse ourselves in lectures and learning expe-riences that we will be reminiscing about for quite some time. The people we were given the privilege to observe and work with ranged from the very welcoming NIDA First, Second and Third year students, to the illustri-ous industry professional teachers/tutors. Over the week’s duration, the two of us found ourselves becoming increasingly familiar with the people, the timetable, general university vibe and the creative atmosphere that we honestly dreaded having to leave at the end of the week. Particular standouts, personally, would have to have been the microphone skill class with the Third year class, this grounded my understanding of NIDA’s ex-ceptionally high standard and expectations for students, as well as the second acting class with the First year students, this being the first class I found myself desperately not wanting to leave; even after the exorbitant amount of time we had already spent in that room! Departing the lush, university lifestyle on the last day, left Brittany and myself inspired to do greater things with our acting careers and by using our updated knowledge towards the broad industry of the arts we have come to know and love. Greatest of gratitude to Mrs Armstrong for her logistics and organization and NIDA for having us! Stefanie Dellzeit
