Plus she loves interacting with people and anything that gets her involved in her girls' activities. Krista is a Sophomore Posse rep (helps with teacher appreciationlunches and Sadie's Dance) as well as the auction committee for Denim& Diamonds and was involved in Varsity Volleyball's Pink Out and theirbanquet. A Special Message From Mr. Hahn for Everyone Attending thePOPCS Denim & Diamonds Auction Saturday Night!

Race to the Future!

All the Colors of the Rainbow!

High School Scientific Design Class Gets Colorful! Crimson, violet, scarlet, magenta, fuchsia, mauve, who can tell them all? Colors seem endless and they are. Yet, those infinite number of colors seen by the eye and struggling to find a name are made up of only threeprimary colors, red, green, and blue. Well, those are what we call the "additive" colors. If you combine colorsin what we call a "subtractive" manner, then the primary colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow. Dr. Givens' Scientific Research and Design Class recently investigated how colors combine using asophisticated set of filters and measurement equipment made by Vernier Corporation. The investigationturned to new ideas and it was not long before the students began fabricating lighting ideas for makeup andphotography. In the photos, Tyler Scoggin shows the three primary additive colors projected on his face. Maddie Wagnerthought dots might look better but the dots oversaturated in the photograph yet another problem toinvestigate. In the end, the students experimented and wrote an Inquiry Lab investigating how colors combine. The ColorLaboratory Procedure they wrote will be used in a future Honors Physics Class two classes working incomplement.

Our second Volunteer of the month is Lou Ann Brunenn. Lou Ann ismarried to Terry and they have three boys who attend POPCS. Theiroldest, Will is in Grade 5, Colin is in Grade 3 and Nate is in PreschoolPrep. Will and Colin play soccer and basketball on teams with theirfriends from school and Nate enjoys swimming lessons. Lou Ann andher family have been part of POPCS for 6 years. Lou Ann is a shareholder at the firm of Winstead PC and has beenpracticing law for over 20 years. She was born and raised in Dallas. LouAnn went to TCU for undergrad and SMU for law school so she hasnever lived more than 50 miles from where she grew up! With her threebusy boys and her career, she doesn't have much time for hobbies, butshe does love watching movies and Downton Abbey. The Brunenn'shave a labradoodle named "Lucy" who loves to chew up everything insight! Lou Ann enjoys volunteering because she gets to know the teachers, administration and other parents that give their time and talents to thiswonderful school. POPCS has become their family and she loves beingpart of the fun! Lou Ann has served as a PTF class rep, a PTF grade rep,Parlamentarian, Vice President and now President on the PTF Board. She enjoys serving on the PTF Board because she has the opportunityto meet so many of the parent volunteers at school. But, her favoriteactivities have been volunteering for 3rd Grade Outdoor Education,Science and Engineering Day and reading to the preschoolers. We areso thankful for Lou Ann's volunteerism and leadership at POPCS!

Lincoln Log Cabin Day!

POPCS Grade 2 students got together with family some members and created a culinary masterpiece tohonor Abraham Lincoln and Presidents' Day.

There was lots of creativity, pretzels, and icing involved as they made a sweet version of Abe's log cabin! Thebest part was that the students could eat all their hard work!

"Your Hair is Standing Up on Top of Your Head!"Parachute Play brings out the Electricity!

This week was Parachute play in Lower School Physical Education classes! Students had a lotof fun expending some energy and making new static electricity hairdos!!

The kids learned that static electricity occurs when 2 objects have different electrical charges. When objects are rubbed together, the electrons from 1 object is transferred to the other, causing them to take on a positive or negative charge, repelling each other making your hairstand on end!

Now, wasn't that HAIR RAISING?

Send Our Grade 6 Students A Postcard From Your Spring Break!Their Goal is to Receive 800 Postcards By This Year's School End!

Dear POPCS Faculty and Staff,

Will you be traveling for Spring Break or Easter this year? Do you know someone who travels around or out of thecountry for business? Or perhaps do you have friends or family who live in or will be visiting another country?

If you answered yes to any question, I have a special favor to ask of you! The past two years my Sixth Grade World Geography classes have collected postcards from all around the world. By the end of the 20132014 school year, we collected a little over 400 postcards, and by the end of the 20142015

school year, we collected a little over 700 postcards!! This year our classes have a goal of 800 postcards by the end of the year.

We're over half way there with almost 600 postcards so far. If you'd like to help us reach our goal, please consider sending a postcard to one of my awesome sixth graders.

The process is easy! If you know a sixth grader personally, you can send it to them using our school address. If you don't know a sixth grader, you can request a name from me of someone who hasn't received a postcard

this year and send it to them using our school address.

Are you wondering what to write on your postcard? That's easy too! Just describe where you are or what you'redoing. You can send them encouragement to finish the year strong.

POPCS Inclement Weather Policies Time is Running Out for A Snow Day...

BUT if it happens...

POPCS determines its own schedule for school closure for inclementweather or other emergencies. School closures and delays are announcedby using the following communications:

Ourgoal is to make a decision no later than 6 a.m. on the day of bad weather. Please understand that this may not be possible with rapidly developing orapproaching weather systems.

Late start: In some cases, it may be prudent for school to have a latestart. On those days, teachers report at 9:45 a.m. and school opens at 10:00 a.m., with classes beginning at 10:15a.m. All normal drop off doors are open for arrivals. The Zone and ELCopen at 10:00 a.m. on these designated days.

THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN LEAD A SPIRITUAL LIFE

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I givethem will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to

eternal life." John 4:1314

Jesus was at a well when a Samaritan woman came to draw water. She was thoroughly shocked whenJesus asked her for a drink. Her response was quite understandable as she questioned His motives. "Howcan you ask me for a drink since you are a Jewish man and I am a Samaritan woman with whom you do notassociate?" To her surprise, Jesus told her that He had "Living Water" which she could have for the asking.

As we well know, water is essential for our daily life. Science tells us that our body, on the average, needsabout three quarts of water daily to operate efficiently. Water helps break up and soften food, making it themost critical element in the digestive process. Water also composes about 90% of the blood in our body asit carries nutrients throughout the body. Water also serves as a cooling agent, regulating our bodytemperature through perspiration. Without the lubricating properties of water, our joints and muscles wouldsoon deteriorate.

Since water is such a vital substance for us, it is easy to see why the woman at the well would want this

"Living Water". In much the same way, The Holy Spirit is vitally important for our spiritual life. The HolySpirit is Jesus' gift to us. Just as Jesus said to the woman, He says to us, "My gift is free, it is lifegiving andwill lead to eternal life."

Before Jesus' Ascension, He promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Disciples and to us through the waterof baptism and His Holy Word. Since we read and share this Word, Christ assures us that He lives withineach of us, empowers us to live our life as His followers and is leading us to eternal life.

My hope and prayer is that we daily refresh our bodies and spirits with the cool, fresh, lifegiving water of HisWord as well as taking time for prayer, Bible Study and meditation to provide the necessary ingredientthepresence and power of the Holy Spiritfor spiritual health and growth.
