Monday 1 st December—The O Antiphons The O Antiphons are ancient prayers that voice the promises of justice and peace anticipated in Christ’s coming. Today we will explore the seven O Antiphons in music and word, take their cry for justice as our own prayer for today, and discover their hidden Advent message of hope. Tuesday 2 nd December—Reflections on Advent Advent puts our anticipation of Christmas into context: not a context of parties and celebrations, but one of a heartfelt cry for a better world. We will join the Psalmists with songs of hope in a broken world, and pray again for the coming of God’s peace. With music led by the contemporary worship band, and words of reflection from the Dean of Chapel. Wednesday 3 rd December—Sung Morning Prayer for Advent A special Sung Morning Prayer with an Advent theme, and additional music from Marquand Gospel and Inspirational Ensemble. Come and celebrate the end of classes and the beginning of Advent with our traditional Advent service—a feast of musical, theological, liturgical and artistic riches for all ages. Come and ponder with Mary her call to be the mother of Jesus, and our call to be God’s agents of justice and peace in the world. Come and reflect with members of the community how Mary’s encounter with the angel invites us into conversation with God. Come and enjoy a feast of roses and angels’ wings, of music, poetry, words, reflections and prayer. Come and sing your heart out with Marquand Chapel Choir, the Marquand Gospel and Inspirational Ensemble, the Contemporary Worship Band, the Marquand Chapel Organ Scholars, and a host of talented singers and musicians from within the congregation.
