The Agile Performance Holarchy is a self-organizing behavioral model for agile leaders who need to grow and maintain a high-performing enterprise agile capability.

The result of collaborative research with hundreds of agile teams, the Agile Performance Holarchy will finally give agile leaders the ability to model, benchmark, and improve agile performance using a clearly defined baseline of best practices.

Agile leaders can now benchmark performance at three performance levels: Adopting, Transforming, and Mastering.

PERFORMANCE LEVELS

Each Performance Circle can be evaluated and certified at

one of three levels of performance: Adopting, Transforming,

or Mastering.

The Agile Leadership Checkbook is a lean self-assessment resource for agile leaders who need to build an enterprise’s agile capability.

There are six performance circles, each with five questions for you to consider, that are used to assess your organization as either Adopting, Transforming, or Mastering Agility.

To use the Checkbook, flip the pages and:

• Read through each description of the Performance Circle and their purpose statements.

• Check each box if your organization demonstrates the behavior that is recommended.

• Record the number of boxes checked in the space provided.

• Tally up your score on the Agile Performance Scorecard, and review Next Steps.

Agile leaders clearly articulate agile values to teams and customers.

Agile frameworks, ceremonies, and techniques adopted by teams are traced directly to one or more agile values.

Agile leaders enable their teams by empowering them to make decisions about scope and timeline.

Agile leaders engage with their teams daily to observe their adoption of values, ceremonies,and techniques.

Visual management systems keep all team members and leaders up-to-date on progress in real-time.

Teams have twice the whiteboard space you think they need, and plenty of cameras to take pictures of designs and drawings.

Design techniques like TDD and BDD help teams design and develop solutions.

Automated test tools free the teams up to focus on what they do best – write great code!
