Safeguarding of natural resources
The entire region of Brittany has beendeclared a "zone vulnerable" to nitratepollution. As a resultfarmers are obliged to follow strict pro-grammes to help theenvironment.
Reinforced planshave been introducedto reduce nitrogenfertilisers to protect9 rivers.
8 bay must realize aregional projectagainst green algaedevelopment.
Since 1990, the useof mineral fertilizercomponents hasdecreased:- 17 % for nitrogen- 39 % for phosphate- 53 % for potash.
