Product Stewardship Programme (PSP) for Liquid Detergent Capsules Visit our new website www.aise.eu OBJECTIVE & SCOPE J J Reduce accidental exposure to children by promoting the safe use and storage of liquid detergent products. J J Voluntary initiative of A.I.S.E. - first launched in December 2012 for liquid laundry detergent capsules, and expanded in March 2015 to cover any liquid- containing detergent capsules. J J Open to all companies (manufacturers and retailers) placing liquid detergent capsules on the European market, whether A.I.S.E. member or not. IMPLEMENTATION LAUNDRY (PSP-2012) : J J Signed by 6 companies ; large majority of EU market. J Implemented since mid-2013, ± full compliance on shelf. J Additional communication requirements since April 2014 on all brands advertising + campaign. EXPANSION BEYOND LAUNDRY (PSP-2015) : J J Currently being signed. J J Implementation over 2015 and 2016. COMMITMENTS CONSUMER INFORMATION : SAFE USE AND STORAGE J J Mandatory on pack communication (yellow patch, icons) J J Additional consumer communication (by brands and by industry e.g. leaflets, TV advertising, websites etc.) J J Since April 2014 : mandatory safety message on all laundry detergent capsules advertising (e.g. all TV commercials : oral message with ‘keep away from children’ icon) J J www.keepcapsfromkids.eu multi-lingual website and digital campaign since Fall 2014 PACKAGING AND PRODUCT J J Reduced visibility of the capsules by using obscure or opaque or any equivalent packaging. J J Closure which discourages, delays or otherwise impedes the ability of small children to open the pack. J J Requirement for resistance to children’s grip added in PSP-2015 expansion, for products not covered by CLP amendment. ENGAGEMENT WITH POISON CONTROL CENTRES J J Information exchange on product composition and monitoring of accidents : J J Incident statistics (> 30% reduction since PSP introduction) J J Incident circumstances (‘accidentology’ project 2014-’15) A.I.S.E. : THE EXPERT VOICE OF THE CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS INDUSTRY IN EUROPE A.I.S.E. is the official representative body of this industry in Europe since 1952.
