“Values reflect what is important to the way you live and work.”

Our beloved Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan firmly believes that our values form our thoughts, words and actions. Our values are important as they help us to grow and develop.

They help us to create the future we want to experience. Keeping these thoughts in mind, Human values week was celebrated in the school to inculcate good values in children. Various activities were organized to

highlight the significance of having good values.

‘Prerna Diwas’ was celebrated in the school on 27 April, 2019 with great enthusiasm. All the children and the teachers sat together for the havan. The long October evening almost died, In the mist along the fields and lanes, The air of the autumn twilight was filled with The crackling sound of wilted leaves- Crushing under my feet The blades of grass Gently rubbed against my ankles, While I was busy looking out for; A faraway tree whose damp smell Reached out to me

Leaning onto the tress I lay And the day closed in the Blanket of amber With the cool breeze that Lulled me to slumber.

POET’S CORNER

Breaking the Chains Bound by the silver chains, She is kept in a shiny cage. She, who is called a woman, Is called the future, Carries dreams, brighter than the cage, Within her. She is tomorrow, the future. Let her break her chains And open her wings, Let her fly in the sky so high With her head held high. She is the guiding angel, Guardian of tomorrow. She is the next, Knight in armor. As she is who The one that unites the world And has the power to carry it Within her arms. She is who; That once opens her wings, Can envelop the world in her wide arms, And has the power to empower the world, With the mind of hers. If she is let to have her voice. She can change the world. She can secure tomorrow, As she got power deep within her. So, let her grow, Let her break her chains, Break the bars of that cage And open her wings. Let her fly high, With her head held high

The Heart The heart is the biggest cheer leader you will ever have, It pumps forever until the day you die. Most times you aren’t even aware of its hard labor, It’s forever giving up it’s every-thing just to make sure you enjoy. It’s a silent watcher of your triumphs. Run a race as fast as you can! You don’t have to look back for any support as it will always be there doing everything it can to make sure you stay on track. I don’t talk about the emotional heart when I say this, that heart has too many poems on it, so mine wouldn’t do the world any good. I talk about the heart that is the best inspiration you will ever get, But it too needs to stay inspired so give life your best! Give this important thing a reason to keep beating, tell it you’re doing something that’s worth living!

FROM THE WRITER’S DESK

AN OPEN LETTER TO A ‘FUTURE’DAUGHTER FROM A FATHER

Kanika Jain, XI- A

Dear Daughter, I know that you’ll be surprised to see this letter, but the reason behind writing this is way too much relatable. A hurricane of realization has just hit me so hard that I have been left brimming with emotions. I had a dream yesterday, not just a mere dream but a profound yet harsh reality which has compelled me to talk with the ‘future’ you, a truth which has shattered my heart into pieces. It was unbearable to see you, my child, in such an aggrieved state. You were lying on a rusted hospital bed with an oxygen mask tightened on your pale face. There was no one else in the room. You clearly needed help. You, to my utter consternation, suddenly you shook your lifeless head and glared at me in sheer annoyance. “Oh father! What have you done? Why did you do this to me? What wrong had I done to you?”Then you introduced me to your gloomy surroundings. I could observe pov-erty and hunger harassing you. Misery seemed to have conquered you body. I was still trying to recover from my dilemma, when you further spoke “You and your ruthless generation have devoured everything we should have had got now. Your generation seldom cared about our wellbeing. You have gobbled up all the re-sources we need now. You have hardly left anything for us, except ample of des-pair and sorrow.” Then you rose to your frail feet and walked to the nearby window. What I saw through the window was only suffering. There were no green trees, no delightful butterflies but only high-rise buildings while smog reduced the visibility of the scene, if any more sorrowful was left. Yes, I could gradually realize what had happened. You were suffering from severe asthma. The scowling smoke had blocked your lungs and it was heart wrenching to see all this. We had taken just everything. We had destroyed the vast jungles, burnt infinite amount of plastic, polluted our holy water bodies and moreover we had no remorse. I couldn’t have it any more and opened my eyes. It could have been a premoni-tion. You know what, I don’t have a single reason to quote that we are not responsible if anything like this truly happens in future with you. It is true that we humans have got so greedy, that we hardly ponder on our future generation’s

requirements.

We have lost our wisdom, our ethics, our morals, our values, just everything. We are running away from sustainability. You have every right to blame our genera-tion if anything like this happens with you. Sorry my daughter, my doll, you may

have to suffer because of us. .

We have forgotten in our prime that you and your generation have an equal share in this world. How can we forget that all that we have got now, it not inherited, but has been borrowed from you and your generation? Resources are nature’s bounty and need to be utilized carefully. We are so foolish that we treat them as free and endless gifts from nature. We fail to realise that they will not suffice if we devour them in this way. But, on the contrary, we are so lazy that we take a car for even small distances. We find joy sitting under the air conditioner, while the harmful chemicals are creating adversities for you. The toxic chemicals released from our inventions have depleted the ozone layer. All are ‘so called’ developments are futile if can’t preserve enough for your future. I personally feel so sad to see kids today covering their face by masks instead of basking in the sun due to the high level of pollutants in the air. Global warming continues to envelop our mother Earth. We turned our landscapes into plastic landslides. If it goes on likes this, you and your generation are going to face catastrophic effects. It’s high time and we need to take immediate steps to combat this problem. We should follow pathways to sustainability. We should pay heed to the sustainable development goals released by United Nations which very subtly catalogue the idea of sustainability. We should plant more trees to restore the forest cover. We should clean the mighty rivers, which are the habitat for many organisms. We should cut down the rampant use of plastic. If we properly water our crops right now, then you might get to reap better crops in future. You are the future of the world and I promise to work to the best of my capabilities to ensure a secure future for you. Sincere apologies from my side if you need suffer the repercussions of our actions. God forbid, if anything like this happens remember that it is not your fault. May my dream never come true. Yours lovingly Father

Bye, Bengal Tiger!

- Denzel Deepak George VII B

FRIENDSHIP - Pavni Talwar

VI D

As we all know, due to humans, many different types of species have become extinct. Day by day, many animals are dying and a lot of them are at the edge of extinction. 11 species have become extinct just in the last decade. The Bengal Tiger is the national animal of India and Bangladesh. It is the pride of both the countries and it is loved by the citizens of both the nations. They are the biggest wild cats alive but sadly they are endangered on the IUCN Red List since 2008. Approximately 2,226 tigers are alive today and all of them are finding it hard to live. Tiger Reserves are only capable of holding 250 adult individuals. Between 1994 and 2009, 893 tigers have been killed. The cause of the death of most tigers are humans. Most of this is due to poaching. Hunters kill tigers for their skin and body parts. In 2006, the Sariska Tiger Reserve lost 26 tigers due to poaching. 24 tigers also died in the Panna Tiger Reserve in 2009. Tigers are also dying as they don’t have space to live. This is due to the rapid cutting of trees by humans. The only way to prevent the extinction of our national animal is to prevent poaching and deforestation. We should not by product made of tiger skin and other body parts. This Earth Day, let us pledge to do our best and protect our species.

A friend is like a four leaved clover, Always there to help you over, Like a bright sunshine, shining on your head, Accompanying you in the path ahead. They are always there to help us around, A pleasant relation that is forever bound.

Their voice is like music to our ears, They are with us year after year. Together we laugh, Together we dream. Together we cry, together we scream. I would only like to say in the end, Blessed are those who have a true friend…
