The Alpha & The Omega
Revelation 22:13
The Alpha & The Omega
• John 21:25—And there are also many
other things which Jesus did, which if they
were written in detail, I suppose that even
the world itself would not contain the
books that would be written.
• John’s focus is primarily on Jesus’ earthly
ministry.
The Alpha & The Omega
• However, when we think about the fact
that Jesus is eternally God, we should also
remember that He is infinite.
• As finite human beings, we’ll never know
all that our infinite Savior has done.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Revelation 22:13—I am the Alpha and the
Omega, the first and the last, the
beginning and the end.
• All three of these statements point to the
fact that Jesus is infinite and eternal.
• In other words, they tell us that Jesus is
fully and completely God.
The Alpha & The Omega
• He’s not just a great teacher, a prophet, a
super spiritually in tuned person, and He’s
not just a baby in the manger, either.
The Alpha & The Omega
• John 1:1-3—1 In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. 2 He was in the
beginning with God. 3 All things came into
being through Him, and apart from Him
nothing came into being that has come
into being.
The Alpha & The Omega
• John 1:14—And the Word became flesh,
and dwelt among us, and we saw His
glory, glory as of the only begotten from
the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Jesus is eternal: “In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God.”
• Jesus isn’t part of creation.
• He wasn’t God’s highest creation.
• He is the creator.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Genesis 1:1—In the beginning God
created the heavens and the earth.
• God existed before time began.
• And, Jesus was there with Him.
• Not only was Jesus with God, He was
God.
• John 1:1—In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Jesus is God.
• He “created the heavens and the earth.”
• John 1:3—All things came into being
through Him, and apart from Him nothing
came into being that has come into being.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Colossians 1:16-17—16 For by Him all
things were created, both in the heavens
and on earth, visible and invisible, whether
thrones or dominions or rulers or
authorities—all things have been created
through Him and for Him. 17 He is before
all things, and in Him all things hold
together.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Revelation 22:13—I am the Alpha and the
Omega, the first and the last, the
beginning and the end,
• Since we are bound by time, it’s virtually
impossible for us to imagine the absence
of time.
• However, before time and space existed,
there was God.
The Alpha & The Omega
• God spoke, and brought time, space, and
the material universe into existence.
• And, Jesus was just as much a part of
bringing the universe into existence as
God the Father.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Mohamad didn’t speak the earth into
existence, Buddha didn’t speak the earth
into existence, Krishna didn’t speak the
earth into existence, and Joseph Smith
didn’t speak the earth into existence,
Jesus did.
• Jesus isn’t just a great religious leader; He
is God.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Jesus spoke all of that into existence.
• There was no universe, no galaxies, no
space, and no time.
• But, with a word, He brought everything
into being.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Every year, people around the world
celebrate the birth of Christ.
• Jesus died for our sins, rose from the
dead, ascended into heaven, and reigns
over His creation.
• No one could possibly do what He did,
because no one else was God in the flesh.
The Alpha & The Omega
• Jesus alone is worthy of praise, because
He alone is God.
• He is “the Alpha and the Omega, the first
and the last, the beginning and the end.”
• He was God before time began and He’ll
be God for all of eternity.
The Alpha & The Omega
• He would be worthy of our worship even if
He didn’t die for our sins.
• He is God, has always been God, and
always will be God.
• He is the creator and sustainer of the
universe.
• And, He is worthy of all our praise.
