7 Universitas Internasional Batam BAB II TINJAUAN PUSTAKA 2.1 Pengertian Umum Balok Balok adalah elemen struktur yang berfungsi menyalurkan beban ke kolom. Balok merupakan bagian dari struktur inti bangunan selain kolom dan pondasi. Sehingga pengecorannya harus dilakukan dengan baik. Tahap pengecoran dimulai sejak tahap persiapan pengerjaan tulangan sampai pada saat perawatan (curing). Pelaksanaan pengecoran yang kurang baik dapat menimbulkan pengeroposan pada balok, dan hasil dari survey yang tidak sesuai dengan yang sudah direncanakan. agar mencegah terjadinya pengeroposan tersebut, perlu dilakukan proses- proses pengujian kualitas beton seperti slump test dan test kuat beton yang dilakukan oleh bagian pengendalian mutu (Quality Control). Bicara tentang gedung bertingkat maka diperlukan metode pemasangan bekisting dan pengecoran di ketinggian. Hal tersebut juga berhubungan dengan jenis perancah yang digunakan. Perancah adalah salah satu struktur yang berfungsi untuk menahan dan menyangga material secara sementara pada bangunan gedung dan bangunan besar lainnya, konstruksi sementara yang memungkinkan pelaksanaan konstruksi permanen setelahnya. Selanjutnya pengecoran beton juga membutuhkan bekisting sebagai wadah pembentuknya.
