Characteristics of the time period!

They lived in Sutton Hoo in Suffolk, England Their society developed from kinship groups led by a

strong chief They all show loyal dependency to the king They tend to live close to their animals in single-family

homesteads, wooden buildings that surround a communal court or a warm, fire-lit chieftain's hall

The cluster of buildings was protected by a wooden stockade fence and the arrangement contributed to a sense of security and to the close relationship between leader and followers: this encouraged the tendency to participate in community discussion and rule by consents

The people formed, maintained local governments, and created fine crafts, especially metalwork
