1.4 Whether there is any revision/update of regulation or syllabi, if yes, mention their salient

aspects.

There is not any revision and update in the syllabi. The institute is affiliated to Shivaji University

Kolhapur and the curriculum is designed by BOS members in the respective subjects. After the

revision of syllabus feedback and suggestions are invited from different stakeholders and are considered

in the BOS meetings. A sub committee is framed for drafting the syllabus.

Many Faculty members of our college have participated in the process of designing, framing and

formation of syllabi as a member of BOS or sub committee members. In the academic year 2017-18

there isn’t any change or revision in the syllabus of arts and science faculty. The university has

2.6 Innovative processes adopted by the institution in Teaching and Learning:

There has been a flow in utilizing technology in teaching which has been

found to be effective. Faculties attend / participate in various development / enrichment

programs in the institute and other institutes. Faculties are encouraged to utilize the online

course materials like INFLIBNET, n-LIST, e-books etc. Faculty members make the assignments

and question banks, which help students prepare for their examinations. Research oriented

teaching is done by guiding students to do projects, seminars on relevant topics and experimental

models to explain different concepts. The college has provided internet and Wi-Fi facilities,

LCDs, software, laptops, educational CDs, e-books/journals, language laboratory, addition of

modern equipment in the laboratories. The college has organized training programmes on the use

of ICT. Teachers use visualizing tools like digital eyepiece on LCD/Laptop, in practical sessions

when details of microscopic observations have to be explained. The College facilitates the

teachers to attend training programmes, workshops by giving duty leaves and financial

assistance. The college has signed MoU’s/agreements with number of agencies which give

opportunity for the application of knowledge and to know innovative technology/services used

by the agencies. These initiatives on the part of the college encourage faculties to adopt

innovative methods of teaching and to inculcate research aptitude among the teachers. Learning

in field during field trips, group discussions, role play, posters, and enrichment programs

through co-curricular activities help the students extensively for active participation. Certain

topics are revised using power point and animations. To encourage self-study students are given

assignments. This encourages independent thinking and analysis. The use of innovative practices

and creativity in teaching learning enhances the learning process and results into high ranks at

University examinations. The IQAC of our college encourages the faculty to use ICT enabled

equipments for better understanding and visualizing effect. It also helps for participative

learning. As an outcome of these innovations five students have won prizes in research activity

'Avishkar'.

7.3 Give two Best Practices of the institution (please see the format in the NAAC Self-study Manuals)

Best practices-1: IT Inspire: Goal: Most of the students of this college are from rural

background. Therefore, the motive is to aware students about the IT sector and Digitize India

Platform. The Context: This practice is for creating interest about all these technologies among

the students of every stream. To develop leadership qualities, to improve the skills of students.

The Practice: The College organizes a one day state level competition programme every year.

The student committee is formed for smooth functioning. In this IT inspire, there are three

events as - IT-Quiz:- This quiz competition is based on general knowledge as well as

information technology. Paper Presentation:-In this presentation, the different technology

subject depending upon research method is given to candidates to present. Poster Presentation:-

The topic on burning issues in Society is selected for poster presentation. Evidence of success:

This programme inspires students of every stream. This provides platform to perform the

proper presentation of the ideas and discussion them. Problems Encountered and resources

required: The students need time, more guidance and encouragement to become successful

with new ways of learning. The entries are much more than the expectations. So it is managed

with the help of students and teachers and it got solved. It is major responsibility to do all the

arrangements like seating arrangements of participants, hospitality for the participants etc., all

the resources that are necessary, are provided to the participants as well as the guest.

Best Practice-2: Nirmal Jeevan Abhiyan: Goal: The objective of this activity is to inculcate

human values, ethics, and moral among the students with the autobiographies of distinguished

personalities and to develop the leadership quality. The Context: It is motivational activity

innovated and conducted by Latthe Education Society Sangli for the student’s personality

development and career opportunities. The Practice: This unique practice is adopted

consistently for the last 10 years. Nirmal Jeevan Abhiyan’ is especially for college students.

Students of LES themselves prepare and give speeches on many important themes such as ‘Ya

Janmavar Ya Jaganyavar Shatada Prem Karave’, lives of great Indian social reformers,

Philosophers, business icons, Scientists, Authors and Poets. The impact of this scheme has

been huge. The speaker students developed their leadership while the students in the audience

are inspired by their speeches. Evidence of success: Through this practice, most of the students

are inspired and achieved success in their life. Human Values and Ethics are instilled among

the students due to this practice. Problems Encountered and resources required: The institution

found it difficult to aware the students about this interactive exercise. The Special training is

given to the speakers. The required resources for this best practice are autobiographies of great

personalities in book or CD form.
