¡Hombre! Prints by José Guadalupe Posada October 19, 2013–April 6, 2014 This exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the death of José Guadalupe Posada (1852–1913), one of the key figures in the development of modern Mexican printmaking. Born of humble origins in the city of Aguascalientes, Posada died a well-known man in Mexico City. As a freelance artist, he completed an estimated 15,000 different ephemeral prints for the penny press that documented just about every facet of Mexican life. ¡Hombre! Presents over 50 of Posada’s depictions of male figures, an amusing array of outlaws, fugitives, demons, lovers, politicians, and matadors, as well as the indelible images of the rural heroes known as valientes (brave ones), the popular everyman Don Chepito, and the magnificent calaveras.

Artist Juan Carlos del Valle: Temptation Industrial Foods as Symbols for the Metaphysical September 12th, 2013 – January 15th, 2014 In cooperation with the Consulate General of Mexico and the Mexico Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas, a new exhibition of paintings created by critically acclaimed artist Juan Carlos del Valle of Mexico City is featured at the Dallas Museum of Biblical Art. In his paintings, industrial foods have been artistically interpreted onto canvas, in order to explore the concept that food can be a symbol for the metaphysical and the spiritual world. The artist has participated in numerous solo and group shows at private galleries, public spaces, and museums in Mexico and Latin America. Del Valle is best known for his style of narrative painting involving myth, imagination, symbolism and metaphor. He has his own unique approach to figurative painting and representation. The artist has created physical art work that represents various aspects of the concept of temptation; questioning the sacred and profane.

BULLETIN 2013
Energy Reform for Mexico
WRITTEN BY
Enrique Peña Nieto As a result of teamwork and our valuable plurality, the Senate and the House of Representatives passed the Energy Reform. The Energy Reform along with other transformative reforms will be the basis for Mexico to achieve more rapid, sustained and sustainable economic growth over the next few years and decades. As a result of this decision, Mexico will become a global energy reference: we will make better use of our vast energy resources that were previously technically and economically impossible to exploit. This will boost our development. Hundreds of thousands of high-level jobs for Mexican engineers, technicians and specialists who will be internationally competitive will be created.
Miscellaneous
The Energy Reform will create more energy so that housewives, entrepreneurs and Mexicans with a small or medium business will have to pay less for electricity and gas. Clean, renewable energy use will be promoted and multiplied, and most importantly: oil, oil reserves and oil revenues will remain the exclusive property of the nation. PEMEX and CFE will continue acting as levers of national development; they will remain public companies with 100% Mexican ownership. Energy Reform strengthens national sovereignty, increases the country’s energy security and will allow us to have enough energy for more businesses to set up in Mexico and create new jobs. From now onwards, Mexico could become an energy power for the benefit of all Mexicans. It is now up to the State Congresses to discuss the decision made by the Senate. Let’s keep working together and contributing from our sphere of responsibility to the success of our country. Congratulations to the Senators and Representatives for their energy and determination to move and transform Mexico.
