Art Electives: Course Descriptions

Sculpture/Ceramics Move over Michelangelo! Sculpture units explore various processes such as carving, assembling and modeling. Transform a block of sand into a unique sculpture. In ceramics, students create pottery and clay structures using various hand building techniques. Vases, teapots, covered containers and sculptures are all possible! Design and function will be stressed.

Photography Students learn to explore the world through the viewfinder of the camera and create images that are both meaningful and expressive. They learn how a camera works, how to discover and select subject matter, use a darkroom, develop film, and various printing and enlarging techniques. Students must have their own 35 mm camera. No digital or advantix cameras may be used.
