On Wednesday 25/7/2018,

HIRA management met with

local youth to discuss the

setting up of a football team

for the youth and younger

children.

The Assembly Hall This week, HIRA Management has met with London Borough of

Hounslow Council who announced the Call in of the decision to lease out

the Feltham Assembly Hall.

The HIRA Association believes it is important that the objections and

worries of the wide Feltham Community are heard and dealt with; to

allow the HIRA Association to grow in a peaceful environment /

neighbourhood as it believes that more transparency in the process can

only be of benefit to the community.

This process will be the opportunity to approach the Feltham Community

and clarify what the Hall shall be used for; and how it would benefit all

members of the Feltham Community.

As a Community centre, the HIRA Association aims to support and

improve life of people living in Feltham providing educational, social,

recreational and charitable activities with a focus on youth to accompany

them in developing their potential with confidence.

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, the HIRA Association a launching

the HIRA Family.

The concept of brotherhood is based on the belief that Allah is the Only

God and that Muhammad (saws) is His Final Prophet. This belief creates

a strong tight between all those who share it. And like in a family,

brotherhood in Islam aims to support and to get support from each other

in making life easier and to become better people.

It is in this spirit that the HIRA Association is launching the HIRA

Family, a space to share, relief, help and enjoy together; a solidarity space

where we care and look after each other with a special focus on the most

vulnerable of us. For instance, you can request a visit for an elderly

leaving alone, an ill person, and whoever is available can commit to do so;

you can request duas, etc…

If you live in Feltham or close by, join the HIRA Family!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE FOR THE FELTHAM HIRA ASSOCIATION?

FOCUS GROUP

United Worldwide Travel in

association with HIRA organised

a focus group on Saturday

21/7/2018.

The focus group was to get

feedback on Halal Tourism and

knowledge based trips to heritage

sites.

The focus group was attended by

19 people from mixed

backgrounds and age groups.

The overall discussion was

beneficial and no doubt will feed

in for better activities.

SOLIDARITY GAZA

A group of sisters from the

Feltham Sisters’ Monday Study

Circle organised an afternoon

fundraising to raise donation for

Gaza, on the 6th of July.

In one afternoon, this local event

managed to raise £1085, given to

Gaza via Palestine Trauma Centre

(registered Charity No 1133560).

Thank you to the volunteers; and

to all those who supported.

The HIRA Association is your community centre, so let us work together to Serve - Educate - Inspire. Survey ends: Sunday 26th August.

The new management team has been built up to develop the Feltham HIRA Association and to make it a more dynamic Community Centre expanding its services and activities to serve the community even more. To enable projects that fit your need and the needs of the youth; and that can run on the long term, we need to identify the needs of the community. After a period of observation, we have taken notes of what we could see and do but that is not enough. As each community has its own needs and specificity, we think it's important to ask you what changes and improvements should be made. For that, we have set up a survey so you can share your views, wishes and concerns about the HIRA Association. It will take you only few minutes to answer the 10 questions. At the end of it, a comment box will collect your ideas about any field not mentioned in the survey. The results will be collected in few weeks time and presented once analysed.

We have made an appeal for volunteers over the past weeks. Several people have come forward; and we thank them for doing so. We still need more volunteers. to organise a range of activities this summer and the rest of the year. More urgently we are planning for Eid Celebration. Whether you are used to volunteer or not, your help and ideas are welcome! You can help even with a few hours. Together we can make the HIRA Association a stronger community centre. Sisters, don’t be shy and come forward, we need you! Registration: click here or email us at [email protected]. You can also fill the

Volunteer sheet available in the Masjid.

A NEW ROOF OVER OUR HEADS...

Alhamdulillah, thanks to your

generous donations, we have been

able to complete the new roof of

the HIRA Masjid. The roof was

leaking and created damp in the

main rooms. The repair will allow

us to save heating and a better

isolation for winter.

We ask Allah to greatly reward

each one of our donors!

On Sunday 14/7/2018; a group of volunteers from the HIRA Association joined residents and local councillors for a litter pick event. Despite the heat, the effort made to clean up the alleys in Sparrow Farm felt very rewarding.

It was also a great pleasure to work hand in hand with the residents to make the area a little cleaner and safer for kids.

BEFORE

The Prophet (saws) highlighted at many opportunities the need of cleanliness. In fact, cleanliness has even been linked to faith (Eman): “Purification is half of faith” (reported by Muslim).

The concept of cleanliness in Islam isn’t limited to body hygiene but rather it is about the whole environment of the Muslim: body, house and streets.

The HIRA Association encourages every Muslim to take part of this kind of events to make Feltham a nicer place to live in for everyone. There are already volunteers groups in Feltham who organise Litter Picks on a regular basis. For more information, please email us at [email protected]

It might sound a bit early to talk

about tuition when the year isn’t

even finished for all the

children. Don’t worry; we are
