Through its "Happyness Is a Choice" program, Zumasys provides incentives foremployees to deepen their involvement in volunteerism and giving.

AGC San Diego's Build & Serve Committee received an "In the Community"Award for its "Giving Back to the Community" submission. Build & Serve wasproud to "give back" by engaging in three charitable projects last year:

AGC's 2-Day Construction Industry-wide Blood Drive collected 380pints (helps save 1,140 lives). To put this in perspective....the San DiegoCounty hospitals need about 350 pints per day....some days more ...somedays less. So the 2015 Blood Drive collected well over the total bloodneeded for the County for one day.350 AGC San Diego members participated in the San Diego MCRDBOOTCAMP CHALLENGE event which was highly visible in the localcommunity. AGC San Diego, with its continuous sponsorship andsupport, was able to contribute $12,000 to programs for our local Marinesand their families.AGC's Back-to-School Backpack Program for Monarch School(students who are impacted by homelessness) provided a backpack forevery student, K-12, on their first day back to school. AGC San Diegomembers donated enough money to provide 300 backpacks, includingschool supplies that matched each grade level. With additional donatedfunds, the committee was able to purchase much needed toiletries.

AGC San Diego Chapter is honored to have been recognized for its outstandingwork for projects which focused on our military heroes, homeless students, andreplenishing critical blood supply for the County.

Leadership Over the past several years, we have reported on the leadership opportunitiesthat AGC San Diego members undertake at the National level. This year is noexception, and here are the highlights. Jeff Harper of Harper Construction Company, Inc. will continue as Chair of theNAVFAC Committee.

Douglas Barnhart of Barnhart-Reese Construction, Inc., and Thomas L. Brownof Sierra Pacific West, Inc. continue to lead AGC of America's Political ActionCommittee. Tom also serves as Chair of the Highway Transportation Division'sWork Zone Safety Committee, Chair of the Open Shop Committee, Vice Chair ofthe Consulting Constructors Council, and Secretary and Board Member of AGC
