As supplier to the automotive industry, we focus on the
following main areas of activity: Manufacture of punching tools and drawing dies
Serial production of pressed components made of steel and aluminium, which are further processed to welding assemblies
Manufacture of tube stays
Production of seats for special vehicles
Experience and flexibility
As a family-managed SME based in Wenden in the Sauerland
region, we have extended our manufacturing capacity contin-
uously, so that today we can offer our customers optimized
all-round solutions from the design of components through to
serial manufacture on a large scale.
We stand for flexibility and reliability, and we have a wealth of
experience in our key areas of expertise – forming and weld-
ing technology.

Economical, speedy and precise
We work in close cooperation with our customers at an early
stage – even in the development of parts and tools. A holistic
view of the process, taking economic considerations into
account, is something we see as self-explanatory. With the
help of our system partners we realize every customer
request – the methodological planning, design, drawing simu-
lation, construction of prototypes and tools as well as subse-
quent serial production.
Development and design
... by experienced members of staff
The manufacture of tools and prototypes at a high level of
expertise is our speciality. A modern pool of machines, com-
bined with experience and the manufacturing skills of our
employees, are the guarantee of our success in working with
our business partners. The consistent further development of
our powerful toolmaking facilities is definitive in underpinning
the innovative strength of our company.

Punching
Our recently built production plant uses state-of-the-art auto-
mated punching machines, with a press force of 200 to 1100
tons. Strip processing lines for coil widths up to 1700 mm,
efficient tool changing systems and a central scrap disposal
scheme guarantee economic manufacturing operations with
the best possible cost-benefit ratio.
In 2011 we put our first servo press into operation – a 630 ton
Monoblock machine. The direct drive with servo motors used
here offers significant advantages for the output of compo-
nents.
The lengthwise division of the steel coils to the required
dimensions is effected for the most part by our own splitting
plant.
Innovative and optimized Our toolmaking division specializes in the production of
stepped tools, progressive composite dies and transfer tools
for car body parts made of steel or aluminium. We have a
base of longstanding satisfied customers, including highly
regarded manufacturers like Daimler and BMW.
For deep drawing, punching and pressing operations we use
tools with a total weight of up to around 35 tons.

In working with our customers and system partners we rely
on the CAD/CAM programs CATIA V5, MASTERCAM and
WORK NC. Inspection approvals in preparation for serial manu-
facture, initial trials and preliminary production can all be
effected using the hydraulic and mechanical presses present
on our premises. Our toolmaking department is located right
next to the production plant, shortening transit times and
making it easy for us to maintain and service our production
equipment.

Welding and cutting
Manufactured pressed parts are joined together to form mod-
ules and assembly groups, using a many different welding
systems. Our machinery pool consists of manually operated
resistance and welding machines, MIG/MAG welding robots
and fully automated universal point welding systems.
One of our specialities in the field of joining technology is the
production of parts for special vehicles, which meet the high-
est individual requirements. With a view to being able to deal
with the most demanding customer specifications, Muhr
Metalltechnik has invested in a powerful 3D laser cutting
plant.

Deep drawing
We use various double-acting and triple-acting hydraulic deep
draw presses with a press force ranging from 400 to 800 tons
to make large-scale deep draw components, like tank covers,
car body reinforcements, tube stays and decorative screens.
A speciality of ours is the production of doors for the driver’s
cabins of lorries.
With smaller batch sizes, phase changes are effected by
manual insertion of the components. Our toolmaking depart-
ment makes use of the hydraulic presses already present on
site for initial trials and preliminary production.

Quality as a philosophy
Use of the most up-to-date equipment in the production pro-
cess (including state-of-the-art measuring systems) ensures
that all customer requirements can be fulfilled in the best pos-
sible way. Central contact persons, network-supported plan-
ning and working procedures with ISO/TS 16949 and
DIN ISO 9001 certification guarantee the outstanding quality
of our products and services.
The constant endeavour to improve our quality and boost the
satisfaction of our customers is a fixed pillar of our corporate
philosophy.
