OVERVIEW
Last month was brimming with activities. ChefJackson and his team delighted residents withextra-special menus for National Seniors Dayand Diwali celebrations. Chloe organized a funHalloween party complete with photo booth,and featured spooktacular themed drinks forHalloween Happy Hour. Along with our manyregular activities, the dog visit and bird visitwere again a highlight. November will bringthe time change and shorter, cooler days. More reason to join in our exercise classes andcheck out the many options for activities. Keep checking as Activities Coordinator,Chloe is always adding interesting items to ourcalendar!
Clocks Fall Back - November 2ndWhen you go to bed on Nov 2nd, turn your clocks back one
hour. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep and wake up to Pacific
Standard Time.
Elevator Upgrades - November 4th – November 8thAfter a major overhaul and installation of a new panel and
display, our first elevator is now operating beautifully. Now
our second elevator will receive its upgrades. We will all enjoy
more reliable elevators in the future. Thank you everyone for
your patience.
Welcome Tea - November 13thThe Chalmers Community warmly welcomes all new residents
to the Lodge. Please join us in the Bistro on November 13th, at
3p.m. for our Welcome Tea. Townhall Meeting will follow.
Sidewalk Improvement ProjectMajor repairs of the sidewalks along 12th Avenue, in front of
Chalmers Lodge, are well underway. Sadly our trees are gone,
however their roots were causing dangerous upheavals. We
can look forward to a smoother, safer sidewalk when the job is
complete.

Congratulations to Naz Akhtar for her promotion to Captain of theDining Room. Naz will be overseeing the smooth operation of thedining area. Her goal is to make it a welcoming environment for all. Naz has worked at Chalmers Lodge for 39 years, both serving andcooking. She is a kind and caring person who always enjoys meetingnew people.

Are you a morning person who enjoys interesting conversation? If so, you are invited to visit at breakfast to engage with residents and provide information about theday’s activities. // 8 – 9:30. Any day(s) of the week.
Are you skilled with computers, phones, and electronic devices and enjoy teaching others? If so, some of our residents could really use your help. // 10 – 11 a.m. Any weekday morning orafternoon for one on one sessions.

Departments Updates Culinary Services Department:Watch for our special meal this month on
Remembrance Day and a Mexican-themed
afternoon tea for Dia de los Muertos.
New! Resident’s Request! We enjoyed John
Long’s seafood tasting menu in October. Thank
you, John! If you have a meal to suggest, speak
to Chef Jackson. We will look forward to
enjoying a “Resident’s Request” meal during the
last week of every month.
Reminder: Friends and family are always
welcome to dine at Chalmers Lodge. Rates are
$7 for breakfast and supper, and $10 for
lunch. Speak to Naz to book your private table.
Building Services Department:The designated smoking area has now moved to
the east side of our building. There is a covered
area with ash trays and chairs. Thank you for
smoking only in this area..
