EVA is excited to present the Bain Fallon Equine Nurses Conference, Wednesday 22 - Thursday 23 July in the beautiful Hunter Valley The conference is the only continuing education event in Australia dedicated to equine veterinary nurses. Whether you are an experienced equine veterinary nurse or new to nursing, in a hospital setting, in ambulatory practice or even in mixed practice, take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear useful, practical and informative lectures from our range of speakers.

The two day conference at the Crowne Plaza also provides a unique opportunity to interact with veterinarians and visit our sold out industry exhibition. Bain Fallon is renowned for its social program, and this year will be no exception. EVA EXCELLENCE IN EQUINE NURSING AWARD

EVA is pleased to announce the introduction of the inaugural EVA Excellence in Equine Nursing Award. This award aims to recognise veterinary nurse dedication, commitment to and outstanding achievement and/or contribution to the equine veterinary industry.

This award will be offered bi-annually in conjunction with the Bain Fallon Equine Nurses Conference at future Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures. The prize will be a perpetual trophy and complimentary registration to the nurse’s conference. The award will be presented at the EVA Equine Nurses Dinner on Wednesday 22 July, at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.

Nurses may be nominated for the award by practice staff, veterinarians, industry representatives or by the nurses themselves. All supporting documentation and letters of recommendation must be included in the application. If nominated by another party, the nurse will need to submit the application in its entirety so that all of the criteria outlined below are met.

Applications should include:

• A supporting cover letter, explaining why you believe the nurse should be awarded the EVA Excellence in Equine Nursing Award. This cover letter should include information such as contribution to their clinic and veterinary nursing, the applicant’s role in further education or mentoring of staff etc.

• Evidence of experience in and service to the equine veterinary industry, contribution to the community and veterinary nursing eg teaching at TAFE, school talks, conducting tours of practice, involvement in education/development equine nursing field

• A current CV, including qualifications, employment history, and continuing education undertaken• 1 - 2 letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a current employer outlining skills competency

To be eligible to receive this award, applicants must have the following:

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or equivalent certification (can be currently enrolled and studying these courses); and• A minimum of five (5) years working as an equine veterinary nurse. This award is also open to nurses employed on studs or in

mixed practice with 60% or more of equine veterinary nursing work.

In addition to the above, your application will include evidence of the following:

• Knowledge and experience within the equine industry• A commitment to continuing education• Contribution to the practice, industry and community will be highly regarded (for instance, teaching at TAFE, school talks,

conducting tours of clinic/studs etc.)
