Decide on the venue, date, time and nature of your event. We’ve suggested holding a morning tea on Friday 26th October but if a Saturday afternoon barbeque or a Thursday night soiree suits you better, that’s fine – (almost) anything goes! Invite your guests with plenty of notice. Don’t forget to let them know that you’re fundraising and will be asking for donations. Choose what you’re going to make. Are you a tradionalist? Or do you prefer something a bit different? Maybe you could theme it. Get organised – make sure you give yourself enough time to create your morning tea goodies. If you need help, ask other people if they’d be willing to contribute to the morning tea as well. Cook up a storm – please make sure you follow the food safety guidelines at http://www.mpi.govt.nz/food-safety/community-food/fundraising-and-community-events/ Wow your guests with your delicious goodies on the day...and have fun! Collect donations from your generous guests. Be sure to thank them and let them know that they’re making a huge difference to kiwi. Donate the funds that you raise to Kiwis for kiwi. You can find all the information you need to do this in your registration email. Thanks for registering Congratulations and welcome to the Great Kiwi Morning Tea! You’ve taken the first step to being part of an amazing event that will bring together friends, family, colleagues and anyone else that enjoys a good morning tea at the same time as playing your part to protect our wonderful national bird. › If you want to add something to your morning tea, you could do a quiz! You can either download our fun Kiwi Quiz or make up your own questions.

› To raise even more money to protect kiwi, you could arrange a raffle or an auction. You could bake an extra special cake. Or ask local businesses to donate goods or services. Or you could even auction yourself off to clean someone’s car or do their shopping etc.!

› Give your event a theme. Halloween won’t be far off so you could have ghoulish treats and spooky tales ready for your guests.

› Make sure people know why you’re doing this – tell them about why protecting kiwi is important to you and let them know about some of the important work that’s being done around the country to make sure we keep them safe. Download our kiwi factsheet for more information – you could even print out a few copies and hand them out.
