Note From The Pastor
Dr. Glenn E. Robertson, Sr. Pastor
Grandparents Day
This Sunday is Grandparent’s Day. We will recognize grandparents in our service. If could help us spread the word,
we want to honor all grandparents. We always recognize mothers and fathers, but not grandmothers and grandfa-
thers. Yet, grandparents can have a significant role in helping to shape the faith of children. I have also ordered two
books about grandparenting that I will have available at the coffee tables for checking out. I hope you find the books
to be helpful as you try to influence your grandchildren in faith.
Patterns of Evidence for the Exodus
I will be starting the study on the movie: Patterns of Evidence for
the Exodus this Sunday. We will meet in the Sanctuary. The study
starts at 6 PM. We will watch about 40 minutes and then at a good
stopping point, stop and discuss what we have learned. We will
continue the same procedure for the next two Sundays. After we
finish Exodus, we will move on the movie: Is Genesis History,
starting October 7.
Wednesday Bible Study for Adults
I have been asked to provide a study for adults during the Wednesday night children’s ministry. So, I will be starting
a new study. We are going to start with Ruth: Grace in Life’s Detours. We all experience detours from time to time.
In life, when we are thrown into a detour, suddenly the smooth course we were on gets thrown into a bumpy, cha-
otic mess, where we do not know how it will turn for good. That seems to be the condition for Naomi in the book of
Ruth. Yet, God is there; and God shows up with grace.

CHILDREN’S CHOIRS
Children’s Choirs are about to start! We will start choir for the 2018-2019 school year this coming
Tuesday, September 11. This ministry has been a vital part of our church for many years, and I am glad
that we can continue to teach children about the Lord and about music.
On most Tuesdays in the school year, we pick up the students after school in the church vans. The
students are taken to the church and served light refreshments. Then they have their choir time until 5:00.
There are two groups: Music Makers, for students in 1st - 3
rd grade, and the King’s Proclaimers Choir, for
student in 4th - 6
th grade. These groups are open to any child in our community. Our goal is to help the chil-
dren develop their music skills and to help them grow spiritually.
Pray for this ministry. And, if you are free on Tuesday afternoons from about 3:30 to 5:00 consider
coming to help us. There are even some jobs that do not require you to know anything about music! Come
talk to me if you are interested.
Pastor of Youth, Ben Faus
Hangtime! Welcome 7th graders!
Do you know a 7th grader? We are having a special event to welcome them to the youth on Saturday, September 8th. For details, and to fill out appropriate forms, go to fbccuero.org/hangtime. The rest of the youth will be joining us at 4pm that Saturday for dinner, games, and worship.
Youth Meal Sign-ups!
The response for meal sign-ups so far has been good. Still 4 more slots for this semester available! Thanks for serving our youth.
The school year is under way! Most Sunday nights (with many exceptions throughout the school year), we gather as a youth group to eat, fellowship, and worship together. You can be part of this by providing a meal for approximate-ly 15 people. Could you cover a meal? Could you partner up with a friend to cover a meal? There will be a sign-up sheet on the table across from the coffee bar, OR you can visit https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/qv29q8. I’ll make sure to keep the two up-to-date with each other. Thank you so much!

Want to invite all adults to a 6 weeks study starting on Sunday September 16th from 6p-7:30 pm. There will be childcare in the nursery for anyone needing.
(The Sunday evening kids studies start back on Sept. 9th)
We will be doing the “GOLIATH MUST FALL” DVD SERIES & STUDY by Louie Giglio about winning the battle against the giants in our lives.
Although we are not fighting literal giants, like in David & Goliath, the ‘giants’ standing in our lives are every bit as intimidating, damaging & limiting to us. Giants like FEAR, REJECTION, APPROVAL, ADDICTION, COMFORT, & ANGER that rob us of the fullness & freedom Jesus provides us.
The truth is, we don’t need to just try harder or have better slingshot accuracy like David. This study talks about relying on JESUS POWER, HIS SUFFICIENCY, not our own to overcome the giants in our lives…. JESUS is our “GIANT SLAYER”.
We will meet in the room across from the church coffee bar.
Please call Laurie in church office, 275-3401, if you will need nursery childcare.
The church is planning a Veteran's Day Program on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. Terri Boothe is searching for military service men and women from our church. Please contact me at 275-4852 (cell) and your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! Terri
