MASS INTENTIONS
An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

FAITH LIFE
Resuming Mass during the Pandemic at all St. Matthias Worship Sites
The St Matthias Parish Masses are now open to the public according to the Mass Schedule on page 3 of this bulletin.
Using all the precautions that have been laid out by the diocese and the state people must:
- wear masks and use hand sanitizer on entering and exiting the church,
- keep social distancing (which will force us to only about 1/3 capacity of our churches, by closing every other pew),
- during the whole liturgy people will be asked to stay in their pews with little interaction with others, until communion is
distributed after the final blessing,
- then people are to leave the church immediately, not congregating or socializing after Mass.
- Between each Mass we are asked to wipe down the pews and other areas of the church that are normal areas of
touch.
No Eucharistic ministers or readers will be used at this time. We are trying to do all we can for the safety of our parish-
ioners and yet maintain a faithful respect for the Eucharist and the people.
During this time there is no obligation for you to come to Mass! If you are sick or your health is compromised in any way
you should stay home please, for your health and that of the community of faith. We are committed to keeping within the
guidelines laid out by the diocese and hope that those who can will join us for Mass. If a church were to fill up, we will not let
more enter the church than is safe according to the guidelines. Please bear with us during these unusual circumstances.
Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
Thursday, August 6th
The resplendence of the Transfiguration
reveals the fullness of life destined to be ours;
we glimpse the glory God wills for our humanity. But we
experience this transfiguration like Jesus only by configuration
to Jesus. As we peer into the glory that pours from every
pore of the transfigured Christ, we cast off everything unworthy
of our personal relationship with the Savior. We do this
especially through confession and the Eucharist,
where Jesus gazes back at us with a look of love that makes
us desire to live his luminous beauty. Silently from Tabor’s
splendor, the Savior tells us: “Become what you behold!”
And we “fall silent” in adoration.
“In a resplendent cloud the Holy Spirit appeared.
The Father’s voice was heard:
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
Listen to him. Matthew 17:5
