The Barcelona GSE is an institution of graduate education founded in 2006 as a result of the joint efforts of four high caliber and well-established academic bodies:

Universitat Pompeu Fabra

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC)

Center for Research in International Economics (CRE I)

The confluence of the strong community of researchers and bodies, fostered by the Barcelona Research Network, forges collaborativesynergies.

The Barcelona GSE derives its core strength from the faculty of its founding academic institutions, which employ over a hundred renowned scholars.

The Barcelona Graduate School of Economics ranks between 2nd and 3rd in economics research output in continental Europe when the research of its founding universities, the UPF and UAB, is combined.

Students’ profile

"One of the things that first caught my eye about Barcelona GSE was the high ranking institutions standing behind it and the quality of its faculty. Not only are we being taught by some of the most eminent professors in their fields, but the dedication and support with which they offer their knowledge to us has really been extraordinary.”

Stewe Bekk. Sweden. Undergraduate School: University of HalmstadtMSc in Economics of Science and Innovation ‘08

“ Since day one I have been impressed by the level of my peers . . . . My fellow students hail from around the world, and the atmosphere of the program feels truly international. I have taken classes with professors from 8 different countries. The combination of place, peers, and professors makes this truly among the top economics programs in Europe.”

Mark Duey. United States. Undergraduate School: University of NebraskaMsc in Economics ‘07

“Before entering the Msc in Finance, I was working in Lima, Perú in risk management. The courses are what originally attracted me to the program. I wanted to go further in my career, and it was clear that the program would give me the technical training and theoretical background I needed to get a top job in banking. I am currently deciding between several excellent job offers, so I guess the program has been a great success!”
