FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Dear Blossom Hill Families:

Thank you for participating in the first round of Parent/Teacher Conferences. The strong home/school partnerships forged throughout our learning community are key to supporting students’ happiness, social/emotional development and academic success.

SECOND HARVEST FOOD DRIVE December 7 - 21

1 in 10 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties turn to Second Harvest Food Bank for food every single month. The good news is we have the power to make a difference by hosting a Food Drive to help connect local hungry families to the healthy and nutritious food they need to thrive.

Most-Needed Foods The Food Bank accepts all non-perishable food donations, but especially needs these nutritious items:

Meals in a can (soup, stew, chili) Tuna or canned chicken

Peanut butter Canned foods with pop-top lids

Canned fruit in its own juice or water Low-sodium canned vegetables

Olive or canola oil Spices

Low-sugar whole grain cereals Healthy snacks (granola bars, nuts, dried fruit)

*Please avoid items packed in glass. No candy or soda please.

All proceeds from the Hicklebee's Book Fair go directly to our library to support literacy programs.

Book Fair Gift Certificates – ORDER ONLINE BY DECEMBER 2!

Gift Certificate informational flyers were sent home in the kids’ backpacks but you will need to use the link below to order and make an electronic payment: https://bhhsclg.wufoo.com/forms/w1rd7vm41qfauaw/.

Gift certificates can be purchased for the amount of $10 or more and will be delivered to your child’s classroom the Monday before the Book Fair. Gift certificates are a safe way for your child to purchase books without the risk of bringing and possibly losing cash. They also make a great gift for friends and your favorite teachers! Please note that kindergarten classes are not allowed to make purchases without a parent so gift certificates don’t apply to them.

Please direct any questions you may have to our Book Fair Co-Chairs at [email protected].

SAFETY FIRST! Reminder

At the end of the school day, the playground is only open to students who are enrolled in Clubhouse, or those students who are participating in after school programs sponsored by the Los Gatos/Saratoga Recreation Department.

Recreation department personnel provide student supervision for these programs. We know many of our families enjoy spending time together on the playground. You and your child are welcome to return to school after 5:00 pm on weekdays and anytime during the weekends to use the playground.

RATS! To make abandoned lunch boxes less inviting to furry friends we will no longer be keeping them in the Lost & Found near the library. All unclaimed lunch boxes will be emptied each day by Mr. Agustin and stored overnight in a secured container in the closet next to the MPR. If students are missing a lunchbox, please encourage them to check the new Lost & Found lunch box container near the lunch tables.

We have tons to celebrate as the 2016 year draws to a close, including a successful first half of the year, and of course our amazing volunteers.

CONFERENCE WEEK WAS A CIRCUS…

…but not in a bad way. Our amazing Staff Appreciation Team of Dipti Cox, Lisa Cross and Francine Shore outdid themselves! They, and all the wonderful volunteers, put together a week-long carnival of appreciation for our childrens’ teachers! A heart felt THANK YOU to this fantastic team and all the volunteers who showed up daily with extra-special treats. Not only do we appreciate our teachers, but we appreciate this team that continues to knock it out of the park.
