“When you think about the incredible transformation we’re seeing in the auto
industry today – as we move from an industry that has been mechanically driven
for over 100 years, to one that will eventually be electrically driven – the need
for more highly trained engineering and science college graduates in the United
States and around the world has never been more clear. That’s why the work that
SAE does with young people is so important and effective, why SAE plays
such an essential role in helping our communities and businesses to be
successful, and why so many people devote so much time and energy to this
important organization.”

SAE Collegiate Design Series Sponsorship – the solution to finding your future workforce! the shortage of mobility engineers continues to grow each year. Fewer engineering and technology students in the pipeline, along with increasing engineer retirements – highlight the pressing need for organizations to not only support and encourage current engineering students, but also begin recruitment of them early.
Become a CDs sponsor and directly connect to your future workforce. As a CDs sponsor, you save time and money by reaching thousands of potential candidates at CDs events. Meet these accomplished, well-educated students and see them in action. employers hiring former CDs participants note that their CDs experience places these students 3-5 years ahead of others entering the workforce.

Among the most demanding of the sAe Collegiate Design series competitions, Formula sAe (FsAe®) challenges students to conceive, design, fabricate, and compete with small formula-style racing cars.
teams spend 8-12 months designing, building and preparing their vehicles for a competition. these cars are judged in a series of static and dynamic events, including technical inspection, cost, presentation, engineering design, solo performance trials, and high-performance track endurance. restrictions on the car frame and engine are limited to inspire creativity and imagination, to test knowledge, and to improve learning.

FsAe is the largest single class motorsports competition in the world.
Hire the Best in Aerospace engineering
the ultimate engineering student challenge, sAe Aero Design includes two regional competitions that challenge participating teams to conceive, design, fabricate, and test a radio controlled aircraft that can take off, land, and optimally meet the mission requirements. this exercise allows students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom in a real work environment.
to help develop the students’ written and oral communication skills, a sizable percentage of each team’s score is devoted to the design report and oral presentation required in the competition.
teams may participate in one or more classes of competition: regular, Open and Micro, each presenting unique challenges.
“For a company looking to hire new engineers it’s difficult for them to differentiate one good student from the next. I recognized this in college and knew I needed to set myself apart with more than just solid grades. CDs gave me that opportunity with real world engineering experience ranging from leadership and report writing, to 3D modeling and hardware fabrication. these skills helped to make me an ideal candidate in the eyes of many employers and put me a step ahead of the competition.”

Hire the Best in Off-road engineering
Baja sAe includes three regional competitions that challenge engineering students to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain and in some competitions, water.
As in real work situations, these future engineers work together as a team to discover and resolve technical challenges in design, test, and manufacturing, as well as business issues. the most rugged of all the competitions, Baja sAe also gives students the first-hand challenge of pursuing their passion while managing real-life demands and priorities.

“Baja SAE provided me with the unique opportunity to turn classroom theory into reality. My involvement with Baja SAE as a student afforded a diverse set of experiences critical to successful interviewing. Networking with teammates,
competitors, and sponsors has yielded friendships worldwide and ultimately paved the way for my career in off-highway engineering at Caterpillar, Inc.
In off-highway engineering, validation of durability and performance are key product differentiators, and Baja SAE gives students an environment to learn the phases of product development from concept through product validation. This competition offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their engineering talents and skills
under real world challenges to companies like Caterpillar, Inc.
These unique experiences are not limited to collegiate students; my continued involvement in Baja SAE through organizing the Baja SAE Illinois 2008 competition
and serving on the Baja SAE National Rules Committee exemplify how SAE continues to provide personal and career development opportunities at the
professional level.”

Go Clean, Hybrid & efficient! In these events, sAe challenges today’s students to explore performance and fuel economy solutions for tomorrow through innovative design.
Clean Snowmobile Challengethis design competition challenges engineering students to cost-effectively reengineer an existing snowmobile to reduce emissions and noise while maintaining or improving the performance characteristics of the original snowmobile. Modified snowmobiles compete in a variety of events including emissions, noise, fueleconomy/endurance,acceleration,handling,static display, cold start and design.
Formula HybridIn this challenge, students must design, build, and race an open-wheel, single-seat car, following specifications that emphasize drive train innovation and fuel efficiency in a high-performance application. this competition builds on the Formula sAe program and takes it to the next level adding a new layer of complexity and technical challenges.
SAE SupermileageDuring this competition, students are challenged to develop and construct a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Vehicles are powered by a small four-cycle engine and run a specified course with the vehicle obtaining the highest combined kilometers per liter (miles per gallon) rating plus design segment points winning the event. students have the opportunity to set a world fuel economy record and increase public awareness of fuel economy.
