School is back in session, and the Bethel Association is back into a full schedule of activities. One of our main functions is to equip and train God’s people for carrying out the Great Commission both at home and abroad, and in September, we have five great opportunities to do just that. It all begins with the “Step Up” Men’s Conference in Bainbridge on Saturday morning, Sep-tember 7th. Dr. Jerry Pipes will inspire and teach men how to be a leader in their own homes. Tickets are $10 each and can be obtained in advance from me, or at the door the day of the conference. The next week, there will be a special training session for our pastors on how to lead the Billy Graham’s “My Hope” evangelistic process in your church this November. This is the same training that was featured in a recent cover story of The Christian Index. The training will take place on Monday eve-ning, September 9th, at 6:30PM at Arlington Baptist Church. Bro. Jesse Grimsley will be our pre-senter. All pastors and evangelism leaders are urged to attend this free training. NOTE: Prior to attend-ing the session, it is strongly recommended that you log on to myhopewithbillygraham.org and complete the online training. Then on Tuesday, September 17, we conclude our LeaderLife Series for the year with another workshop led by Dr. Benny Pate from the GBC. This final installment is called “Time Wise,” and deals with efficient and effective time management for today’s busy Christian leaders. The workshop will be presented twice on that same date: from 9:30 AM ‘till 12 Noon, and again from 7PM to 9PM. Partici-pants may choose which session they would like to attend and, again, this workshop is offered FREE of charge (compliments of your Cooperative Program). Then, on the weekend of September 20-21, our Middle and High School students will be chal-lenged and equipped to be “on mission” as part of our 4th annual association-wide DiscipleNOW week-end. The year, our large group rallies and small group studies will all be led by a team of college students from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Finally, we wrap up September with a first-time training opportunity for anyone who has ever thought about going on a mission trip. Bro. Michael Williams (our Missions Team Leader) and I will conduct this basic workshop on Saturday morning, September 28, here at the Associational Office from 9AM-11AM. This training is for all ages (youth through senior adults), and is provided to help you make the necessary preparations NOW in order to go on a local, North American, or international mission trip of any type in 2014. We hope you will pray about participating in this very practical workshop. Hang onto your hats, folks! It’s going to be a busy Fall season. For Jesus,

Bro. James

This year, we are collecting the following items at our An-nual Fall Meeting, October 8,, at Arlington Baptist Church. These supplies will be delivered to the Warm Springs campus of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home the fol-lowing day.

Here is the list of desired supplies:

• Hand sanitizer • Plastic eating utensils (forks, spoons, knives) • Paper plates and bowls • Paper or plastic drinking cups (Large, 16 or 18 oz.) • Tea bags • Pre-sweetened Kool-Aid • Cooking oil • Sugar • 55-gallon Trash bags • Gift Cards (example: Wal-Mart)

Please pack the different types of items in separate card-board boxes, with lids. This makes it much easier to pack the truck at the collection site.

We will receive items and load the truck in the back park-ing lot of Arlington Baptist Church, starting around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, (the Associational Meeting begins at 4:30 PM). We will receive items for the truck through the supper hour, with hopes of having the truck fully loaded by the start of the 7:00 PM Session.

If you have questions, please call the Association Office at (229) 835-2887.

Bethel Baptist Association will participate in “Backpacks for Appala-chia” collection at the Georgia Baptist Convention meeting in November. We are planning to contribute a load of backpacks stuffed with school supplies, toys,

and clothing items for children toward this effort, but we need to get them to the regional collection point in Al-bany by October 21st. Therefore, we are requesting that you bring the backpacks from your church to our office by Thursday, October 17th so that we can pack them in appropriate boxes and get them to Albany in time.
