IntroductionThe busy days of a mom, often have me reverting to recited or mumbled payers at mealtimes and bedtimes.

Sure, throughout the day I lift short three to five word prayers like these,

“Lord, I need patience now!”

“Father, give me grace.”

“Jesus, protect them.”

“Jesus, heal my child.”

Many times as I collapse into bed, I’ve uttered the prayer, “Lord, please just make them turn out all right!”

I feel like I'm barely covering the bases.

While God hears both the prayer on the fly and the prayer on our knees, prayer isn't meant to be something we do when we are desperate or weary. Prayer needs to be a priority. It's a ministry, really. One that no parent can afford to overlook.

When I started praying more sincerely for my children, I really didn't know where to start. Then a friend mentioned how she prays scripture over her child. I thought it was a strange idea at first, but I decided to give it a shot.

I underlined, highlighted and made notes in my Bible of any Scripture that spoke to me concerning my children. Today, I am so thankful for my friend's advice. I have prayed scripture over



my children for years, and have seen God do beautiful things in their hearts and mine.

You see, dear mom or dad, our prayers are a mighty force in fighting for our children's souls. We may not get this parenting thing right every time, but we have the mighty sword of prayer that will do greater things than our words ever could.

By standing in prayer, placing ourselves in the gap, we make a bridge from what they are struggling with to how the Lord wants to move in their lives. Our prayers make a way for the Lord's will to be done.

Ezekiel 22:30-31 gives a very eye opening glimpse of the power prayer and intercession have. The Lord was speaking here,

“I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. So I will pour out My wrath on them and consume them with My fiery anger, bringing down on their heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

The land of a child's heart is the land a parent needs to build a wall of prayer around. If we don't, we are exposing them to powers of darkness which can overtake the child's heart. Remember, we are not fighting against flesh and blood. We are fighting against powers and principalities of the evil world. Prayer is mightier than we are in protecting our children against the fightfor their heart and faith.

In this book I have recorded verses by topic that are helpful in praying over your children. If you are new to this concept, simply apply their name and the appropriate pronouns. (he, she, him, her, etc.) As you pray, allow the Spirit to lead you in praying specifics. The Lord will hear your cries on your child's behalf. You can trust Him to move in mighty ways.

Arise, cry out loud in the night, as the watches of the night begin;

pour our your heart like water in the presence of the Lord.

Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children...

He tends His flock like a shepherd:

He gathers the lambs in His arms and

carries them close to His heart;

He gently leads those that have young.

She speaks with wisdom

and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

and to be subject to their husbands,

Their Father


The righteous man walks in his integrity;

instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

So be strong, show yourself a man,

and observe what the Lord your God requires:

Walk in His ways, and keep His decrees and commands

Wisdom


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom:

all who have His precepts have good understanding.

Psalm 111:10

Do not be wise in your own eyes;

fear the Lord and shun evil.

This will bring health to your body

and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:7-8

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,

who give generously to all without finding fault...

James 1:5

Listen to advice and accept instruction

and in the end you will be wise.

Proverbs 19:20


Knowledge comes from learning.Wisdom comes from living.

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?

His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2

Those who live according to the sinful nature

have their minds set on what that nature desires;

but those who live in accordance with the Spirit

have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

The mind of a sinful man is death,

but the mind controlled my the Spirit is life and peace;...

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus....

whatever is true,

whatever is noble,

whatever is right,

Heart


The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.

Walk

in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners

Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.

Health


Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple

and that God's Spirit lives in you?

If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him;

for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,

who is in you , whom you have received from God?

You are not your own; you were bought at a price.

Therefore honor God with your body.


Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in full view of God's mercy,

to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,

holy and pleasing to God-

this is your spiritual act of worship.

Romans 12:1


Smile! It increases your face value.


My son, do not forget my teaching

but keep my commands in your heart,

for they will prolong your life many years

and bring you prosperity.

Repentance


You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate,

Attitude


Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

who...made Himself nothing,

taking on the very nature of a servant

...He humbled Himself.

Honor one another above yourselves.

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor,

serving the Lord.

Share with God's people who are in need.

Practice hospitality.

a workman who does not need to be ashamed

and who correctly handles the word of truth.

...be blameless- not overbearing, not quick-tempered,

not given to drunkenness, not violent,

not pursuing dishonest gain.

Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good,

who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

Be imitators of God, therefore,

as dearly beloved children and live a life of love,

just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us...

but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Each should look not only to your own interests,

Humility


When pride comes then comes disgrace,

but with humility comes wisdom.

Humility and the fear of the Lord

bring wealth and honor and life.

Humility isrecognizing who God is.

by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom.

Protection


If you make the Most High your dwelling-

even the Lord, who is my refuge-

then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.

For He will command His angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91:9-12

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

the righteous run to it and are safe.

Proverbs 18:10

The Lord will keep you from all harm-

He will watch over your life;

He will watch over your coming and going

both now and forever more.

You hem me in- behind and before;

You have laid You hand upon me.

Spread Your protection over them,

Forgiveness


But love your enemies, do good to them,

Who can discern his errors?

Obedience


Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear Me

and keep all My commands always,

so that it might go well with them and their children forever!

Deuteronomy 5:29

If they obey and serve Him,

they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity

and their years in contentment.

But if they do not listen,

they will perish by the sword and die without knowledge.

Job 36:11-12

But the man who looks intently into

the perfect law that gives freedom,

and continues to do this,

not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-

he will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:25


Prayer: Psalm 119:33-40


Preserve my life according to Your love,

and I will obey the statutes of Your mouth.

Psalm 119:88

Jesus replied,

“If anyone loves me, he will obey My teaching.”

John 14:23

And this is love:

that we walk in obedience to His commands.

2 John 6

The Lord your God is testing you

to find out whether you love Him

with all your heart and with all your soul.

It is the Lord your God you must follow,

and Him you must revere.

Keep His commands and obey Him;

serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Love


Love must be sincere.

Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.

Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:9-10

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children

and live a life of love,

just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us.

Ephesians 5:2

Nobody should seek his own good,

but the good of others.

1 Corinthians 10:24

Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue

but with actions and in truth.

1 John 3:18



Love the Lord your God

with all your heart

and with all your soul

and with all your mind.

This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it:

'Love your neighbors as yourself.'

Matthew 22:37-39

May the Lord make your love increase

and overflow for each other and for everyone else,

just as ours does for you.

May He strengthen your hearts

so that you will be blameless and holy

in the presence of our God and Father

when our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones.


As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you

to live a life worthy of the calling your have received.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient,

bearing with one another in love.

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit

through the bond of peace.

Joy


...I will rejoice in the Lord,

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength...

Habakkuk 3:18

When anxiety was great within me,

Your consolation brought joy to my soul.

Psalm 94:19

Surely You have granted him eternal blessings

and made him glad with the joy of Your presence.

Who can show us any good?

Let the light of Your face shine upon us, O Lord.

Consider it pure joy,

my brothers,

when you face trials of many kinds,

because you know that the testing of your faith

develops perseverance.

Perseverance must finish its work so that

you may be mature and complete,

not lacking anything.

sing, all who are upright in heart!

The prospect of the righteous is joy,

Purity


It is God's will that you should be sanctified:

that you should avoid sexual immorality;

that each of you should learn to control his own body

in a way that is holy and honorable,...


Who may ascend the hill of the Lord?

Who may stand in His holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to an idol

or swear by what is false.

Psalm 24:3-4

Come near to God and He will come near to you.

Wash your hands, you sinners,

and purify your hearts, you double minded.

James 4:8



The Lord said,

“...get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on,

and do not defile yourselves with idols...

I am the Lord your God.”

Ezekiel 20:7

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened

in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you,

the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints,

and His in comparably great power for us who believe.

How can a young man keep his way pure?

By living according to Your word.

do not let me stray from Your commands.

that I might not sin against You.

Choices


...I have set set before you life and death, blessings and curses.

Now choose life so that you and your children me live,

and that you may love the Lord your God,

listen to His voice and hold fast to Him.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

...then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...

as for me and my household we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15

Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge

rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies,

Work Ethic


Commit to the Lord whatever you do,

and your plans will succeed.

as working for the Lord and not for men.

Do not be afraid or discouraged,

for the Lord God, my God, is with you.

He will not fail you or forsake you...

Work hard in silence.Let your success make the noise.


Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,

to mind your own business and to work with your hands...

so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders

and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.


Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord,

because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58

All hard work brings a profit,

but mere talk leads only to poverty.

to enjoy his work, because that is his lot.

Victory


Keep Your servant from willful sins;

Faith


For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed,

a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,

just as it is written:

“The righteous will live by faith.”

Romans 1:17

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith

and this is not from yourselves,

it is a gift of God- not by works,

so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Be on your guard;

stand firm in the faith;

be men of courage; be strong.

Do everything in love.




If you believe,

you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Matthew 21:22

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt,

because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea,

blown and tossed by the wind.

That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord.

James 1:6-7

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.

Let nothing move you.

Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,

because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58

...take up the shield of faith,

with which you can extinguish all

the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions

with all kinds of prayers and requests.

Future


Make plans by seeking advice;

if you wage war, obtain guidance.

Proverbs 20:18

Therefore we do not lose heart.

Though outwardly we are wasting away,

yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

For our light and momentary troubles are

achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is unseen.

For what is seen is temporary,

but what is unseen is eternal.


Whether it is favorable or unfavorable,

we will obey the Lord our God,...

Jeremiah 42:6



God will give to each person according to what he has done.

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory,

honor and immortality, He will give eternal life.

But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth

and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

Romans 2:6-7

Do not say,

“Why were the old days better than these?”

For it is not wise to ask such questions.

Ecclesiastes 7:10

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.

I have set the Lord always before me,

Because He is at my right hand,

I will not be shaken.

Psalm 16:7-8

...press on to take hold of

that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

...Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

I press on toward the goal to win the prize

for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14


Afterward

Thank you for praying for your children. You have a powerful ministry in prayer. I trust your faith will be deepened and your parenting efforts richly blessed as you read and pray through these Scriptures time and time again.

Do not grow weary in praying. Your children are precious in His sight. Cover them in prayer and expect great things to come through it. You are a mighty warrior. Maybe a silent one in prayer,but the mightier one in the spiritual battle for the souls of your children.

Stay prayerful and build a wall.
