Important Date 27th January 2013 - 1st Nippers back
Woonona Surf Life Saving Club Illawarra Club of the Year 2009 & 2012 Celebrating 100 years
The last Nippers & Sippers were great fun, we had a visit from Santa, making an early stopover at Woonona Beach - a great way to end the year, and we look forward to seeing you in 2013, for more of the same levels of participation from members.
Sydney Water & InterBranch Results Congratulations to all those who competed at the Sydney Water Series 4 Carnival at Warilla on 1 December. Thank you to those who helped with equipment, water safety, officials, parents and of course the competitors who had perfect water conditions – here’s the results:
Yvette AVERY U14 came 1nd in sprints, 7th in Flags (2nd in U15 girls sprint) 3rd place in the overall series U14 female beach events! Zara SHARMAN – U11 finalist in Swim & Ironwoman Ruby SARGENT-WILSON U10 – 4th in Flags Billy SARGENT-WILSON U8 - 3nd in Wade Tess STEPHENS U8 -finalist in Sprint Stacey PADDON Open - 1st in sprint. Top effort for flying our colours - Caleb SHARMAN, Sienna MCCLAFFERTY, Emily MOON, Payton BROWN, Caitlyn ODEWAHN & Jaime CARTER who all competed fairly and strongly.
The Sydney Water Series is where selections are made for the Inter-Branch team. Yvette Avery took out 3
rd place in the overall series - U14
female beach events, and was selected as the U14 Female Beach representative for Illawarra. The state-wide competition in Forster on December 8 & 9 was fierce, for 40 competitors who switched their club colours for the Illawarra Branch ‘red & whites’, and for the second time, finished 5
th, in front of South Coast.
Well done, and congratulations to Yvette, who finished 2
nd in sprint, and 4
th in Flags, and brought
the U14 cameron relay in 2nd
, and the all age relay 1
st. The team did a stellar job on the beach,
thanks to Daniel, the super-coach.

Good Sports Club President As we move into the holiday season, I urge you to take extra care on the beach. I ask that you always set an example to the many visitors on our beach, be alert, and always encourage everyone to swim between the red and yellow flags. Don’t forget your own sun protection…. and slip, slop, slap! Thank-you to all patrolling members for your continued vigilance and service over this busy festive season…..and all the very best to everyone for the year ahead.
