The Bund, located in the central area of Shanghai's Huangpu River, it is Shanghai's landscape which is necessary for the tourists to the land. The Bund is about 1.5 km in length. East of the Huangpu River, west of the Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, Chinese and western-style and other 52 buildings of various styles, the Bund is known as the "Exhibition of International Architectures , ".

More than a century, the Bund has been the symbol of Shanghai in the world. The region from White Bridge to Huangpu Beach of Nanjing East Road, is located outside of Shanghai County, so it is called "The Bund." It is the first outline of Shanghai City, which was called Huangpu, the Yangtze Road, Beach Road.It changed its name to The Bund in 1945.

1840, Shanghai, as one of the five treaty ports, began opening up……

Construction of Concession made the Bund become the first building of settlements and the most prosperous land. Early in the Bund is a foreign trade center, where Western companies were everywhere.

Seemed as an area of sovereignty, the Western powers managed their concessions in their own ways.

From the late 19th century, many foreign and Chinese banks set up in the Bund, where Shanghai has become the "Financial Street", and "East Wall Street,” Thus, the Bund became a "poised." Owning land in the Bund, is not only a symbol of wealth, but also a symbol of honor.

Most of the buildings are reconstructed three or more times, and architects form different countries were eager to show their talents,

So 20 kinds of buildings of different periods, different countries, different styles of architecture were settled in the Bund which is not larege . That’s also why the Bund is called “Exhibition of International Architectures , ".

Now,the Road is twice width as before, with 10 lanes, 8 fast and 2 slow, Shanghai Bund has always been a tourist attraction.
