WEEK OF PRAYER
For State Missions September 11-18, 2020
The Myers-Mallory State Missions Offering is named after two ladies who dedicated their lives to Christ. Both lived lives of service and prayer, embodying sacrificial giving for the sake of the Gospel. There is much more to be done. With more than 2 million Alabamians not attending any church, the field really is ripe for harvest. Two lives well lived for one mission.…...the Great Commission.

From My Heart
I heard a great sermon on my first opportunity to regather with fellow believers to wor-ship our great God and Savior
Jesus Christ. The subject of the expository sermon was “How Do Christians Respond to A World Gone Crazy?” The Biblical text was Hebrews 10:19-25 and the context of that passage is Christ’s once for all sacrifice for sins that made us holy. That’s what God did in the New Covenant for us, in us and through us. Jesus died once for all for the One Race, the Human Race of Peoples. So now you don’t have to go to the Temple and offer sac-rifices day after day year after year – all you need is Jesus! On that basis the first Re-sponse for us as Christians to a world gone crazy is: 1.Let Us Draw Near to God v.19-22 We now have the confidence to go directly to God. So we need to get in our prayer clos-et, just us and God, alone with God and the Word and pray! Jesus has opened the curtain in His death that separated the people from the direct presence of God. We need to pray that this crazy world that is clueless, mindless, idiots & ignorant will come to a knowledge of Jesus. This is not a time to play games with God! 2.Let Us Hold Fast to Our Hopev.23 That is without wavering, being wishy, washy but with confidence. Without doubt or hesitation. Some of the early Christians were tempted to give up the struggle and turn back to their old religion. COVID-19 calls for us to have HOPE - the hope we profess in Jesus. To build a Life that Matters is to build your life on Jesus – “The Solid Rock” as the old hymn says. 3.Let Us Stir One Another Up v.24 We need to think about how we can spur one another up toward love and good deeds. Not stirring up people to hate & bigotry, to riot & tear down, to loot & burn not only businesses, but the American Flag! Love is DOING what is in the best interest of another person without regard for what we get out of it. 4.Let Us Not Give Up Worshipping God Verse 25 is one most of us know from memory, “Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as is the habit of some, but exhorting one another; and even more so as you see the Day approaching.” The Coro-navirus has kept us from assembling together, but it should not keep us from worshipping God. But now that may tempt some to desert and abandon corporate worship altogether as the word “give up” indicates. But DON’T! Thanks Pastor Rusty Craig for hearing from God and delivering His Word to His People! Your associational missionary.
