    'B' Sector volunteers have made a great start in cleaning upthe area, on Friday5th February some 28 volunteers, dressedin their conspicuity vests, rendezvoused at the lower car parkand set about pruning the palm trees the whole length of thedual carriageway, the palm trees were also sprayed with achemical deterrent against the red palm weevil. Work carriedon on the 12th Feb clearing the paths, gutters and centralreservation of weeds. As with A, C & D Sector groups all agreethat this work has been most enjoyable and creates a goodcommunity spirit.

    To Camposolers! The volunteers are cleaning up the area forthe benefit of all, please don't ignore them! You are mostwelcome to join them. If you dont feel capable thats O.K.perhaps you could put a euro or two in their buckets, Chemicalsand materials have to be paid for. KEEP UP THE GOODWORK 'B' CLEAN.     The same plea has been echoed on the other sectors. On SectorD, Bob Owen has put a plea out for more assistance and hecan be contacted on 968 970 577 On D they have raised a lotof cash, over 500 Euros one week, and this is being put to gooduse as everyone can see, but now the weather has turned, itwould be great if folk would turn out to help.

    THE MAJORITY OF HOUSES flooded when the Guadalquivirriver broke its banks are illegal.Hundreds of houses along the river banks had to be evacuatedwhen river water flooded houses. But according to the Spanishpress, many of these houses were built without permission.

    Newspaper, El Pais, said the regional government, the Junta deAndalucia, had identified more than 3,000 houses along the banksof the river which had been built on land at risk from flooding.The Ministry of Housing has also begun investigations into another8,400 houses in more than 400 municipalities along the riverscourse, although these are built outside of the flood-risk areas.Junta de Andalucia president, Jose Antonio Grian, warned of thedangers of building homes illegally in areas where floods werecommon. He said: The river has its own set of deeds and canarrive in any moment to claim what belongs to it.

    Ecologist group, Ecologistas en Accion, which claims there aremore than 25,000 illegal houses built in flood-risk areas across thewhole of Spain, blamed local governments for the situation. Aspokesperson said: There has been negligence on the part ofcouncils for allowing construction to take place in floodable areas.The flooding comes after the wettest February in half a century.
