It seems as though issues that were overlooked in the past have become current "buzzwords" in the news. As an educator in various capacities for the past 25 years I have noticed a significant change in the amount of bullying behavior and the way children behave towards each other. In response to these developments, as well as parent concerns, we have made arrangements to address bullying behavior separately from our behavior rewards efforts. To help create a shared definition of bullying and how to respond to bullying, we are bringing in a nationally renowned speaker Mr. Jay Banks. His program entitled "STAMP out Bullying" will be shared with our staff before school. Mr. Banks will make two presentations to our student body during the school day and then present to the parents from 6pm to 7pm in the gym. This was supposed to take place Wednesday, February 2 nd , but due to a winter weather advisory, we are in the process of rescheduling. It is so important to our school that I am not only asking that all parents consider attending, but we will be offering free childcare (for Clinton Valley Students only) during the presentation. In other news, installation of the new interactive white boards has begun! All of our classrooms will receive a 90 inch "smartboard" with touch screen capability. THE CARDINAL POST

February 2011

Dear Clinton Valley Families,

Over the years school environments have changed dramatically. This was supposed to take place Wednesday, February 2

but due to a winter weather advisory, we are in the process of rescheduling. The system comes with a document camera, audio amplification for the teacher's voice, and a blu ray player…transforming us into 21st Century Classrooms! I encourage all parents to make it a point to see this technology in action.

FROM THE CAFETERIA

Cold lunches brought from home that require little or no assistance allow lunch times to go smoothly. Please remember when assembling your child’s lunch that we only have 2 lunch monitors to assist and supervise 60-75 students during this 30 minute time period. If you must send a lunch with your student that will need to be warmed by our lunchroom staff, please limit the re-heat time in the microwave to 1 minute or less. This allows enough time to warm all of the requests and still allow time for your child to eat it. Also, if your child is buying a hot lunch, they must have money on their debit account. You can send a check (payable to CV Food Service) or cash to school with your child. Please put the money/check in an envelope with your child’s name and teachers name on it. You can also deposit money on your child’s account online at www.sendmoneytoschool.com (need student ID number) to pay with credit card. Thank you for your help!

CURIOUS 4’S PROGRAM Your child may qualify for FREE preschool! Chippewa Valley Adult & Community Education is offering a tuition free preschool program for a limited number of four-year olds for the 2011-2012 school year. You must meet at least two qualifications for this program. Classes are held at Clinton Valley Elementary! For more information, please call 586-723-5255.
