Cat the Cat loves to play with her friends outside. Gather a group of your child’s friends to listen, act, and play together.

Cat the Cat says…

Start the game by having the group line up outside.

Like “Simon Says,” begin each command by saying, “Cat the Cat says…” and watch your child’s friends follow the commands.

Surprise the children by giving them silly commands. After a few rounds, give a command without saying “Cat the Cat says…” The children should freeze in place during this command.

This silly game combines two of Cat the Cat’s favorites: funny animal noises and tag.

Animal pals freeze tag!

What you need:• Space to run• Whistle or a loud voice

How to play:Gather players into a group and define the boundaries for the game.

Have the children begin running around the designated area.

After a minute or so, whistle or yell “Freeze!”

Once all the children have stopped, yell out an animal pal of Cat the Cat’s for them to imitate. For example, if you yell “Bee the Bee!” kids can make buzzing noises as they run around.

After the children have acted out the animal, whistle or yell “Freeze!” and yell a new name and have them start again.

Continue this until you’ve worked your way through all of Cat the Cat’s pals.

Let different kids take turns calling out the animal.

Materials needed:• Crayons• Scissors• Glue• Popsicle sticks• FUN FRIENDS!!!

Instructions: Adult supervision needed.

Print out copies of the characters on the next three pages.

Supply the children with crayons to color their own versions of Cat the Cat and her friends.

If the children are old enough, allow them to cut out their own images. If not, cut out each character for them.

Apply a dime-size amount of glue to the Popsicle stick and adhere to the back bottom of each of the characters. Allow glue to dry while you talk with the children about what kinds of sounds and habits the different animal friends have.

Once the glue has dried, encourage the children to put on a puppet show by ducking below the table or behind a couch. Give them a chance to see what the puppet show looks like!
