Suggestion for the Month of May

When Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem, there was no room for them at the inn. The month of May is especially devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, when we seek to increase the room for her in our hearts. One way to mark this as a family or as individ-uals is to build an altar to Our Lady in your home. Pope Benedict XVI did so as a child. He said recent-ly, “Marian devotion was very present in our family, it was part of our Catholicism: as kids, for example,

in the month of May we would build in our home an altar of the Madon-na.” What is needed: A statue or image of Our Lady, a small table or space on any table at all. A small tablecloth, one or two candles, and perhaps a vase with flowers. Then, you can visit the altar each evening of the month of May and pray your devotions as a family before the Mother of God.

PARISH CLUSTER NEWS & EVENTS...

Thankyou,FaithFormationVolunteers! We would like to take this time to thank all of the many volunteers who have so generously and joyfully given of their time. The following teachers the children were blessed with this year were: Karyn Schneider, Tami Dieringer, Donna Socha, Maggie LaFond, Kim Day, Julianne Leighton, Sam Anderson, Emily Westrich, Ann Posch, Anthony LaFond, Peter Weber, and Dirk Meyer. Also, Barbara Dzurik and Debra Evans kept Jesus company in Adoration, thereby making Adoration available for the rest of us. Serving the meals provided by Dobo’s in Loretto and adding kind hospitality with all the trimmings were Rosemary Dixon, Trina Yager and Denise Haechrel. Wonderful substitutes stepped in whenever needed. We also want to take this time to thank Father Gallas for taking time out of his busy schedule to prepare a lesson on and teach the meaning behind the Apostle’s Creed to the adults. We are hoping to continue to offer the Adult Speaker series next year…stay tuned for the next topic! Thank you too to Sherry Elsen in the of ice for keeping things running smoothly and Dwight & Linda Benson for setting and cleaning up for us! And last, but not least, a HUGE thank you to all of you parents who see to it that your children come and learn the most important lessons they need to know, lessons that will lead them closer to our Lord and Savior. Thank you for allowing us to assist you and your family on their faith journey! Be assured of our prayers and let us know if there is anything else that we can do to assist you! God bless you! FAITHINACTIONSaturday,May19 Holy Spirit Academy's FitForLife5kis only weeks away - Saturday, May 19th. A vibrant, reverent event - bringing together our community, our faith, and honoring the body. In our 4th year, we are collaborating with Faster than the Pastor to boldly market and support the beauty of our FitforLifeevent. This year's event includes a beautiful Christ Cross that holds prayer intentions and inspirational messages for the journey from a community of believers who lift and support you on your way to the finish line. Our guiding scripture is Philippians 3:14 making the event distance an easy 3.14 miles. All proceeds generated will benefit Holy Spirit Academy's efforts to make it a strong pillar in the community for years to come! New this year is the LittleLambsMadDash- perfect for the smallest of His sheep. Not interested in walking or running? Perform a corporal work of mercy - feed the hungry or give water to the thirsty by volunteering! Here is what past participants have said about FTTP - "You had everything expected in a big race, with the incredible added bonus of a Christ-centered event. It was extremely well organized and planned out, THANK YOU!" www.fasterthanthepastorevents.com St.ThomasBookClubMonday,May21 St. Thomas Book Club will meet on Monday, May 21 at 10:30 AM in the Parish Center. We are currently taking applications for women interested in Bethany House for September 2018 to May 2019, or for a shorter “Home for the 2018 Summer” program that begins in June and concludes in mid – August. Bethany House is a home for women who live in community, pray together, take meals together and discern whether they are called to consecrated life. It is sponsored by the Of ice of Vocations and is located in North East Minneapolis.
