Last week I issued a challenge to the Board of Trustees concerning

our call to ministry in 2017. It is not original with me but when I read it in

the book Move by Greg Hawkins and Cally Parkinson, it powerfully struck

my spirit. Here is the challenge:

“Our work as leaders in the church is to help catalyze spiritual

movement.

If our people are not moving forward, it is up to us to rock their boats---

-to inspire

them to stay open and available to God with meaningful challenges and

defined

next steps.”

I love the idea of spiritual movement. Growing in Christ builds my

faith. It brings me into a place of deeper intimacy with Jesus. It is, as one

great saint described it, “living on tip-toe with joy.” I hope the heart cry of

each of us in 2017 is the one expressed in the exclamation above---“Further

Up and Further In!” The Father has so much more in store for us!

Blessings and peace,

Len
