Samen met een aantal partners, hebben we meer dan een jaar geleden al een aantal initiatieven opgezet genoemd ARGUS waar we willen onderzoeken of we met 4G niet alleen de sensorgegevens en de beeld van de drone live kunnen zien, maar ook of het eventueel mogelijk is om een drone te besturen over 4G. Dit natuurlijk allemaal los van de wetgeving, maar toch interessant om weten. Om evidente praktische redenen zijn we met een gewoon sportvliegtuig metingen gaan doen langsheen de kust op 150 en 300 m hoog om toe zien of het 4G signaal ook in de hoogte voldeed, en dat was zo !! Het idee is om de kust in zones in te delen met elk hun drone om al eerste hulpmateriaal ter plaatste te brengen en de situatie in kaart te brengen nog lang voor de NH90 (vroegere Seaking) in Koksijde kan vertrekken.

Zo heeft Mobistar, samen met i-minds and Rombit Europese steun binnengehaald in het kader van Horizon 2020, om te onderzoeken hoe drones kunnen ingezet worden om ingeval van een brand, ontploffing of ander incident, drones in te zetten om de situatie al in kaart te brengen nog voor dehulpdiensten tere plaatse zijn. Ook andere toepassingen rond veiligheid en milieu zijn denkbaar….
