The Chair Foundation Academy is a partnership between Victoria University and The Chair Academy (USA).

The program provides a systematic approach to transformational leadership and is dedicated to long-term change. Participants will be able to apply concepts, practices, and processes as they relate to the needs of actual work situations. Training is problem-based, with a situated learning environment, rich with authentic applications, collaboration, and assessments. It is practical and connected to the participants’ experiential world and/or context of their reality.

The Chair Foundation Academy works to convert the goal for development into an actuality, empowering participants to soar, to sail, to step forward bravely into the unknown. To this end, mentoring and coaching for success are keys to effective leadership training. With the help of a program coach and workplace mentor, you’ll gain the information, skills and support needed to excel in your leadership position to lead your team and department, thereby providing outstanding programs and services to your students, clients and communities.

This program is relevant to current, aspiring or emerging leader in a management role within the education and training arena. It is designed to facilitate personal and professional growth of current leaders keen to upskill and expand their capabilities as well as new and emerging leaders wanting to hone their leadership potential.

The program draws from theoretical and practical experiences to help leaders find their voice and build confidence as a change agents in their lives and organisations.

KEY FEATURES

PROGRAM STRUCTUREThe program is co-delivered by a local and an overseas facilitator. The facilitators are skilled practitioners and academics who individually have extensive experience in the teaching, managing and consulting arena. You will have the opportunity to draw on the wealth of experience the facilitators bring to the program.

The Chair Foundation Academy is a 12-month program bookend with two, intensive series of leadership workshops. The program commences with a five day workshop component, which is learner-centred. It focuses on a journey of self-discovery and builds on two key themes: “know yourself” and “know your world”. Based on the concept of training over time, participants utilise knowledge and insights about themselves to expand case studies and

discussions relevant to the demands placed on higher education and organisational leaders. Each session integrates theoretical leadership concepts, practical experiences, allowing partici-pants to thoroughly understand, internalise and apply leadership models and competencies.

The 12-month workplace experience begins immediately after the first week’s workshop. The core of the workplace experience is the refinement and implementation of the Individu-alised Professional Development Plan (IPDP) and the attainment of personal goals and objectives.

At the end of the practicum, you will revisit concepts and principles from the first week of trainings and work through a number of new topics which round out the essential skills of an effective educational and training leader.

INVESTMENTThe total fee for The Chair Foundation Academy is AU$5,800, payable in two equal installments.
