The most important molecule in Human history – Watson and Crick vs. Pauling
Francis Crick and James Watson, Cambridge, England, in 1953. Linus Pauling , Oregon S.U., US, and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, in 1952.

The most important molecule in Human history - DNA rules and structure – Did you know?
Prof. Filipe Castro Soeiro, 2015 | Universidade Europeia, Laureate International Universities
On 1953, Watson and Crick’s article, “A Structure for DNA” was published in Nature. James Watson, Francis Crick, and Maurice Wilkins would go on to share the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1962! Pauling won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1954 "for his research into the nature of the chemical bond and its application to the elucidation of the structure of complex substances“ and Nobel Peace Prize in 1962.
Rosalind Franklin died of cancer at age 37 and was not awarded with the Nobel Prize – which was very unfair!!!
Whole Genome Sequencing and Its Implications
The discovery of the double helix structure of DNA marked a pivotal moment in modern scientific history. Few individual discoveries so quickly ushered in so many fundamental advances in so many fields, from genetics and evolutionary theory to biochemistry and medical research, that trigger major diseases or the creation and manufacture of drugs to treat these devastating diseases. Medical and Pharmaceutical industry has app. 1,000 billion USD (2013)

New Knowledge = Economic Knowledge?
There is a macro referential Paradigm change from an Economy based on Natural Resources and Physical inputs into one based on Knowledge, Intellectual assets,
Technology Market transfer processes and commercialization of innovation and that is generating an “Innovation Wave”.
New Knowledge = Economic Knowledge?
Innovation and Entrepreneurship = Economic Growth, Job Creation and Wealth creation?

West vs East:Global Demographic Economic
Unballences There are demographics unbalances between West and East countries, which reflects in the HUMAN RESOURCES’ AVAILABILITY, VALUATION and in ECONOMIC GROWTH; The 21 countries of APEC seeks to promote FREE TRADE and ECONOMIC COOPERATION throughout the ASIA-PACIFIC Region dominate ECONOMIC ACTIVITY and establish NEW MARKETS for innovative products and raw materials beyond Europe, where demand had been declining (last years); APEC countries account for app. 40% of the world's population, app. 54% of the world's GDP and about 44% of world trade;

Why is China closing the innovation gap to EU?
China Market Research (IMD, 2008; 2010): from a pool of 531 executives and managers living in and outside China, 22% of respondents think that in 2020 China will be the world leader, 33% that China will be the origin of the world’s top brands, and 15% think that China will become the world’s innovator. In other words, 70% of respondents think that China is moving upstream and/or downstream of the value chain; Thus, China needs innovation and marketing competencies as it steps forward from its current status as the world’s factory (Cost Leadership) into world’s leader (Differentiation Leadership).
