The dimensional (DIM) weight calculation determines the billable weight for packages delivered by FedEx® or UPS®. The DIM weight is calculated as length x height x width / DIM weight factor (domestic: 166 or international: 139).

The carriers have extended the usage of DIM in recent years. Here’s a clarifying timeline and an example of the impact to small parcel shippers.
