June Ballou did an outstanding job on the birdhouses and over $700 was raised toward missional line items of our apportionments!!! Thank you, June! We were really blessed that day with special music…The Joybells, Justin Holliday, Paula Morgan Faught, The SMASH Choir, Krystal Karges Ramsey, the Anniversary Choir plus our organist David Larson…all helped to make the service spectacular. Thanks, as well, to my son Steven who stepped in and gave leader- ship to the music while Sandy was out of town that weekend. We certainly enjoyed having the David and Janelle Karges back with us and David did an outstanding job with his sermon. We invited Gary and Lynn Wilburn but Gary’s schedule would not allow them to be here. It was a powerful service and hopefully we were all reminded that God isn’t fin- ished with this congregation yet! Our best days are ahead of us! We are looking into ways that we can be a more fruitful congregation not only growing in numbers but in our personal discipleship. Here are some recent examples of how I believe God isn’t finished with us yet. We had 6 people join the church on Anniversary Sunday. We are about 40% paid on apportionments (hopefully that number will be higher by the end of the month) and I really can see us having at least a 75% pay out this year but I don’t think 100% is out of the realm of possibility. The kids and adults who attended VBS, along with a few other helpful adults, raised over $1,500 for UMCOR and filled 11 Flood buckets! The meals to the free clinic are going strong and the people are so appreciative. Our youth con- tinue to minister to the homeless and others on a twice a month basis plus they will have school supplies to whoever needs the assistance. And the list could go on and on. I am extremely proud to be your pastor for another year! Great things will con- tinue to happen not only in the coming months, but for years ahead. Do you see what I see? In Christ’s Peace, Pastor Mark

Bishop to Preach @ First UMC-Seminole The resident bishop of the Oklahoma and Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conferences will be filling the

pulpit of our congregation on July 14th and we could not be more excited. Bishop Nunn was elected to the episcopacy in 2016 and began serving our conference in September

of the same year. Previous to being elected as bishop, he had been serving as the director of mission and administration for the Northwest Texas Conference.

He grew up in Abernathy, Texas and attended McMurray University in Abilene where he met his wife, Mary. Bishop Nunn earned his Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and ordained an elder in 1983.

We will have a covered dish dinner following the service in honor of Bishop Nunn. Once again, the church will furnish the meat and everyone is asked to bring from the following:

If you last name begins with A thru I bring a dessert The letters J thru R bring an appetizer or salad

The letters S thru Z, please bring a vegetable dish **As always bring enough to feed yourself and a half dozen more**

The Bishop’s sermon is entitled “Let Your Light Shine” and will be based on Matthew 5:13-16. It’s going to be a great day so please make plans to be here for worship.

Former D.S. Darrell Cates to preach Darrell Cates, who is now on staff at the United Methodist Foundation in Oklahoma City, will be here on Sun-day, July 21st to preach. I know you will be excited to have your previous Superintendent back here. Pastor Mark has known Rev. Cates for years and is pleased that Darrell has accepted the invitation. We will have two great preachers two Sundays in a row, so you won’t want to miss either Sunday.

Sonshine Camp

One camp has already occurred, in June, and 6 people from our congregation gave leadership to the event held at Crosspoint Camp. The second Sonshine Camp will be July 19th thru the 21st with the following people from our congregation providing leadership: Debbie Hallum, Donna Magruder, Cansas and Rachel Pate, Linda Swearingen, Mark and Lisa Watson. Gabe will be attending as a camper. Please be in prayer for these folks along with the kids and parents who will be attending.

There will be no

Wednesday Night

Activities at the

church on July 3rd.

The office will be closed

on Thursday, July 4th

and Friday, July 5th.

Blessing of the Backpacks and Prayer for School Personnel The beginning of the 2019-20 School Year is a little over a month away! School begins Friday, August 9th! We will once again have a Blessing of the Backpacks and a time of prayer for our school personnel. We have set aside Sunday, August 11th where these two events will be a part of the worship service. Bring your kids, grandkids, neighborhood kids and be here as we begin the school year in the only appropriate way…with a
