CUSTODIAN POSITION OPENING The Church of St. Gerard is hiring! There is a part-time Custodian position opening. Visit www.st-gerard.org for a job description and more information. Interested candidates should email a PDF formatted resume to Karl Kornowski at [email protected].

A NOTE FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR Hello Everyone, It’s been awhile since I addressed you all amidst some of the big changes (see Father Tom’s article last week!) that have transpired. First, I am pleased to announce the hiring of a full-time Facilities Care Coordinator who will begin next week!! Some goals in this position were to find: • Someone who is a self-starter • Takes pride in their work and in the campus • Takes ownership of projects • Strong work ethic! • Possesses Facilities skills • Understands that working for God’s Church is a

privilege, honor and responsibility. Please stay tuned as I will be introducing him in an upcoming bulletin and keep him in your prayers. ———————————————————————- Having Tim move on to the job that for over 2 years he had originally been seeking for was bittersweet to say the least… For one, I’m very happy for him, Julie and the family, but selfishly would prefer he stay and continue the great work he has done, not just in Liturgies, but in the restructuring he has been an integral part of “behind the scenes” with me. I am going to miss his insights and wisdom. I can guarantee that, for at least this next year, when I go to coffee/lunch with him to bounce ideas around, he will be buying. Its only fair, Tim. The posting of Director of Liturgical Music has been posted and I have been receiving several resumes both locally and nationally. I am well aware of what music means to St. Gerards and will be sure to hire the right person. To that end, there has been much fear about two HUGE parts of this Church: music and Priests. I can assure you that after spending time in consultation with Father Klockeman, you are blessed as a Parish. He is going to be wonderful for this Parish which has been through so much instability. His tentative transition schedule is as follows. Please mark your calendars: • June 1st Weekend (yes, as you are reading this) -

MAJOR cleanup of rectory and other storage places throughout the Church

• June 8th Weekend - Tentative date to move in Fr. Klockeman’s furniture.

• June 30th Weekend - Going away celebration for the Redemptorists

• July 1st Weekend - First weekend Masses with Fathers Klockeman and Joseph

• July 20th Saturday Mass - Installation Mass with the Archbishop and reception to follow

The next several weeks, the Transition Committee and I will be writing some updates so that as a Parish, everyone is informed and can ask whatever questions they may have.

FUNERAL PRE-PLANNING SEMINAR Come join Tim, Director of Liturgical Music, and Amy, Liturgical Ministry Coordinator, in giving the gift to your loved ones of pre-planning your funeral. Seminar will be Saturday, June 8 starting at 9:30am. Meet in the choir room. Everyone is welcome!

JUNE ANOINTING OF THE SICK The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on the following days in June. If you are ill and would like to receive this sacrament, please stay in the Church following Mass. Saturday, June 8- after 5:00pm Mass Sunday, June 16- after 8:30am Mass Sunday, June 23- after 10:30am Mass

CHURCH MICE AND ALTAR LINENS MINISTRY Did you know that St. Gerard’s has a ministry that spends about one hour a month cleaning the altar area? Did you know that we also have a ministry that washes the church linens once every six weeks? Consider the tranquility and flexibility of being part of the Church Mice (cleaning) or Altar/Chapel Care (linens) Ministry. Contact Amy at [email protected] if interested.

AS YOU PLAN WEEKEND TRIPS. . . . As you plan weekend trips to the cabin and for summer vacations, remember that St. Gerard relies on your continued support. Please remember to mail or drop off your weekly/monthly contributions, and have a safe and enjoyable summer! If you would like to inquire about online giving or automatic withdrawal for your summer contribution, visit the GIVE page of our website at www.st-gerard.org or call Sue in the parish office.

MAY BAPTISMS Raymundo Esteban Vega, Ai Lan Claire Dang and Cameron Rio Love were made members of the Church through the saving waters of baptism. May God continue to bless their families and our parish as we continue the vital work of teaching them what it means to follow Christ.

PENTECOST Pentecost is quickly approaching! We are looking for people to carry in a flag for the procession on Pentecost (June 8/9) at all weekend liturgies. All are also invited to wear red as we celebrate this special day!

YHP COLLECTION: Final Week - Hygiene Products and Washcloths S t . G e r a r d ’ s Y o u t h Homelessness Project’s spring outreach collection to benefit homeless youth in our community is coming to an end June 9! Youth experiencing homelessness sometimes go without basic daily necessities to care for themselves. This week we continue collecting hygiene products (such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, shaving cream, deodorant) and new washcloths. Please place donations in the collection bins in the church. If you missed a week and would still like to donate to the outreach collection, below is a list of needed items that are being collected for various organizations in the northwest suburbs: $10 gas cards (SuperAmerica, Holiday) $10 gift cards (Aldi, Cub, Walmart) new socks and underwear (men/women/youth/child) diapers (sizes N-3) Visit www.st-gerard.org for more information on the 2019 spring collection. Thank you for your support and please join us in prayer to end youth homelessness!

COLLECTING VBS SUPPLIES Please take an item request (from the “VBS Needs” board in the gathering space) and return to the collection boxes before June 6. Also, please consider making a donation to support our VBS program and kids. Any amount is helpful. Thank you for your support!

VBS SERVICE PROJECT This year we will be supporting CEAP for our VBS service project. The children will be asked to bring monetary, food or other requested donations from the CEAP "most needed" list. If you would like to contribute, simply put food in the bins in the gathering space or bring monetary donations to the parish office (checks made to CEAP). For more information, contact Judy Foster at the parish office.
