prestigious institution of higher learning.
ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
The University of Mysore was established on July 27, 1916. It is the sixth oldest in the
country and the first in the state of Karnataka. Also, in a sense it is the first university of the
country to be established outside the limits of the British India. The university was founded as
a result of the efforts of the benevolent and visionary Maharaja of erstwhile Princely State of
Mysore His Highness Shri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884-1940), and the then
Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860-1962). It was the first University to be accredited by
NAAC in 2000 with Five Star Status. The university is now ranked 36th
in the India
Rankings 2017, NIRF-MHRD, Government of India.
The University is located in Mysuru, the cultural centre of Karnataka. Mysuru was the capital
of the Wadiyar dynasty. It is a city of palaces, temples, and gardens. Being a splendid tourist
centre with historical monuments and unique architecture, it is famous for silk, sandalwood
oil and artifacts of ivory and sandalwood. The city has salubrious climate throughout the year.
It is about 140 kms south west of Bengaluru, the State capital, and is well connected by rail,
road and air.
Vision
To aspire to become a world-class University by tapping human resources from all sections of
society by offering them opportunities to learn across disciplines, and to build human capital,
men and women of character and competence capable of being leaders of tomorrow and
solving problems arising out of fast changing realities – global and local.
Mission
Built on a great legacy inherited from our founding fathers, our mission is to create an
environment of stimulating intellectual dialogue across disciplines and harvest knowledge
with a cutting-edge through high quality teaching, research, and extension activities leading
to the generation of students who would provide leadership, vision and direction to society.
Goal
Our goal is to realize this vision by 2025. Our strategy is to develop innovative programmes
in basic and emerging disciplines in a phased manner and to update them periodically so as to
keep ourselves on track and on time. Our commitment is to involve the faculty and students
in interactive learning environment both within and outside the University through contextual
and experiential programmes so that they would be builders of a worldwide-network of
knowledge-sharing and excel in their performance with a winning edge in the wider context
of globalization.
Motto
The motto of the University is well engraved on its emblem: (depicting the bird
„Gandabherunda‟ flanked on either side by lion-elephant Sharaba – a mythical creature
believed to be stronger than lion and the elephant and the upholder of righteousness) that
“Nothing is equal to knowledge” (“Na hi Jnanena Sadrisham” - an excerpt from Rigveda) and
“I always uphold the truth” (Satyamevoddaharamuaham). Thus the greatness of knowledge
and the commitment to adhere to truth are the ideals, the University is pursuing all through its
existence, and in its path of success.
Campus
The main campus named "Manasagangotri"– eternal flow of the mind – by the Poet-laureate
„Kuvempu‟, the former Vice-Chancellor, and the first „Jnanapeetha‟ awardee, is located on
739 acres of picturesque land containing a sprawling Kukkarahalli lake surrounded by
verdurous trees extending to an area of 261 acres.
In addition to the main campus, there are three campuses located in Tubinakere near Mandya,
Hemagangotri near Hassan and at Chamarajanagara. The Tubinakere campus near Mandya is
known as Sir M. Visvesvaraya Postgraduate Centre and is located on the Mysore-Bangalore
highway at a distance of about 8 kms from Mandya. The Postgraduate Centre at
Hemagangotri, Hassan is located near Kenchattahalli village on the Mangalore- Bangalore
highway at a distance of about 10 kms. from Hassan. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Post-Graduate
Centre of Mysore University is located at Chamarajanagar, the Southern most district
Headquarters of Karnataka State.
There are 63 PG Departments offering 76 Postgraduate Programmes with more than 1,20,000
UG, PG, M.Phil, and Ph.D students. There are 226 affiliated colleges, 66 Recognized
Research Centers, 157 Outreach /Research Centers, 8 training centers, 47 specialized
programmes, 38 Foreign collaborations and 27 National collaborations. Further, there are 11
PG Departments with National Research Facilities, 14 Chairs, 13 DST-FIST, UGC-SAP
funded departments and 13 supporting units. Enrollment of a large number of overseas
students from 63 countries reflects the international reputation of the university.

Institutional Evolution
The University was granted autonomy in 1956. Originally the territorial jurisdiction of the
University consisted of nine districts of Karnataka State. With the creation of Bangalore
University in 1964, Mangalore University in 1980 and Kuvempu University in 1987, the
territorial jurisdiction of the University of Mysore is now confined to the four southern
districts of the State, viz, Chamarajanagara, Hassan, Mandya and Mysuru.
Centenary Celebrations of the University of Mysore
The University of Mysore celebrated its centenary year during 2015-16.
The year-long celebrations were inaugurated by the Hon'ble President of
India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on July 27, 2015. As part of the
celebration, 8 Nobel Laureates delivered special lectures. Throughout the
year seminars and workshops were conducted by various departments
inviting eminent scholars. The Valedictory address was delivered by the
Hon'ble Vice President of India Shri Hamid Ansari on July 22, 2016.

Indian Science Congress-2016
University of Mysore in association with Indian Science
Congress Association has successfully organized the 103rd
Indian Science Congress during January 03-07, 2016. The
focal theme of the congress was “Science and Technology for
Indigenous Development in India”. It was inaugurated on
January 3, 2016 by the Hon‟ble Prime Minister of India Shri.
Narendra Modi.
Altogether 18,528 delegates were registered their names for the
conference. Around 600 delegates from foreign countries
namely USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, Korea, France
etc, have participated in the Congress. Six Nobel Laureates, one
Field Medalist, one Bharatha Rathna and eminent scientists of
national and international repute have delivered lectures during
the congress. There were totally 28 plenary sessions, 25
symposia and 18 technical sessions pertaining to different
disciplines of science and technology. Also, Women Science
Congress, Science Communicators‟ Meet and Children Science Congress were organized
XL Indian Social Science Congress-2016
The Indian Academy of Social Sciences (IASS) in association with the University of Mysore,
which celebrated centenary year, organized the 40th Session of Indian Social Science
Congress from 19-23 December 2016 with the focal theme “People’s Health and Quality of
Life in India”. The president of ISSA, Allahabad Prof. B. M. Hegde inaugurated the congress.
Almost all the chairpersons and conveners of 28 research committees and 21 thematic panels
took part in the mega event. More than 5000 social scientists and delegates participated in the
deliberations of the congress.
Institution of Excellence
A grant of Rs. 100 crore by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),
Government of India elevated the University to the status of Institution of Excellence in the
thrust area of Bio-diversity, Bio-prospecting and Sustainable Development. The Institution of
Excellence is a prime productive research and Core Instrumentation facility created under the
University. This houses facilities for NMR, NGS, LCMS, XRD, Imaging and Cell culture in
Vijnana Bhavan specially constructed out of this grant.
Academic Programmes
The University of Mysore is offering graduate and postgraduate degree, diploma and
certificate and Ph.D. programmes. There are five faculties, viz., (1) Arts, Humanities and
Social Science (2) Commerce and Management, (3) Education, (4) Law, (5) Science and
Technology.
The distinct strength of the University lies in providing high quality teaching and research
backed by well qualified and experienced teachers, with a strong focus on Education, Fine
Arts, Humanities, Languages, Law, Physical Education, Pure and Applied Sciences, and
Social Sciences. Most of the postgraduate departments are of international repute and known
for excellence in research. Research projects worth crores of rupees have been sanctioned to
various University departments by national and international institutions and funding
agencies.
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India has
recognized the Department of Studies in Botany, Bio-Technology, Microbiology, Physics,
Sericulture and Statistics under FIST programme.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the Department of Studies in Bio-
Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Earth Science, Food
Science and Nutrition, Journalism and Mass Communication, Library and Information
Science, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Statistics, Zoology and Kuvempu Institute
of Kannada Studies under the Special Assistance Programme (SAP).
Flexible Choice-Based Credit System with Continuous Assessment Grading Pattern
(CBCS-CAGP)
In an effort to move towards the complete version of the CBCS-CAGP scheme as emphasized
by the UGC and to provide greater autonomy, the University has permitted the following

University with Potential for Excellence (UPE)
University Grants Commission (UGC Project) has sanctioned Rs.50 crores considering
University of Mysore as University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) in the year 2012, for
the period of five years and extended for one more year. The project planned in two different
areas; Focused Area – I: Processing, Characterization & Applications of Advanced
Functional Materials, Focused Area – II: Media and Social Development – A Case study of
Karnataka. The following facilities were established under this scheme - High Performance
Computing Environment (HPC), Adoption of Green Technology in the University Campus,
Centre for Education of Visually Challenged –Drushtee, Multimedia Learning Resource
Creation Centre (MLRCC), Earn While You Learn Scheme, Workshops, Conferences and
Seminars, Centre for Proficiency Development, Upgradation of Printing and Publication
Units, Books and Journals, Sports and Games, Strengthening of Department Laboratories and
Hostels and E-governance.
Centre for Information Science and Technology (CIST)
The University of Mysore has been in the forefront in extending non-formal education in
Information Technology to the public through CIST, housed in the imposing Senate Hall
complex at Manasagangotri. This is an ISO 9001-2000 Certified Centre. CIST offers various
postgraduate degree, postgraduate diploma and diploma courses encompassing several
horizons of Information Technology.
Students on the campus may acquire and upgrade their computer skills concurrently with
their regular academic programmes, through non-formal training programmes offered by
CIST and thus get themselves equipped to face the challenges of the modern world.
Educational Multi -Media Research Centre (EMMRC)
The EMMRC was established in 1996 as Audio-Visual Research Centre (AVRC). The name
AVRC was changed to EMMRC in August 2004. This is the only institution of its kind to be
established by the UGC in the entire Stateof Karnataka. EMMRC produces educational
videos for 24 -hour educational television channel and Doordarshan’s National Network DD-
1.
School of Planning and Architecture
The School of Planning and Architecture was established in the year 2002 and is located in
the pristine environment of the Manasagangotri campus which is condusive for the growth
and promotion of creative and competitive design ideas. The School promotes young talents
in the professional field of Architecture and Design. The School offers B.Arch,
B.Tech(Planning) and M.Arch. courses on a regular basis, approved by the Council of
Architecture (COA), New Delhi. The curriculum is structured and imparted in an extremely
student- friendly manner. A student graduating at any point is equipped and trained to handle
projects independently or could work in an office or organization.
SUPPORT SERVICES
Administrative Offices
The administrative offices of the University are housed in the Crawford Hall, an imposing
building adjacent to the Kukkarahalli lake, known for its scenic splendour. The Offices of the
Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, the Registrar (Evaluation), the Finance Officer and the Public
Grievance Cell are located in this building. The Office of the Administrative Officer, situated
at Manasagangotri, looks after the activities of the postgraduate campus.
Auditoria
Facilities for co-curricular activities exist in the University. There are five auditoria - one
each at the Maharaja‟s College Centenary Building, the University College of Fine Arts for
Women, Humanities Block at Manasagangotri, Bahadur Institute of Management Studies
(BIMS) and EMMRC, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, auditorium, MGM. In addition, most of
the departments have well-furnished conference halls. These facilities are available for use by
the students for cultural programmes and competitions such as debate, music, dance, drama
and also for special lectures. Manasagangotri also has a spacious open-air theatre with a
seating capacity of 10,000 where cultural programmes for large gatherings could be held.
Authorities of the University
The Principal Authorities of the University are the Syndicate, the Academic Council, the
Finance Committee, the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Board, the five Faculties and
the Board of Studies. The University is governed by the Karnataka State Universities‟ Act,
2000.
Prasaranga and Printing Press
The University is maintaining its own printing press for all types of printing work. The
Prasaranga is the publications division of the University which has published more than
1,500 books in various subjects, dictionaries, encyclopedias and monographs.
Green Campus
The University of Mysore is a leader in solarization of its campus with solar power provided
in all street lamps and providing solar water heaters in all hostels. The campus has a good
number of flower-full gardens and lawns. The ambience is comparable with some of the
world-class universities including the pleasant weather, noise-free environment and student-
friendly atmosphere.
Banking Services
The State Bank of India has two branches in the University, one at the Manasagangotri
Campus and the other at Crawford Hall, which provide banking and ATM facilities.
Cafeteria
There is a centrally located canteen on Manasagangotri campus which caters to the needs of
students, faculty and the general public.
Centre for Competitive Examinations
The Centre for Competitive Examinations located at EMMRC building provides special
training to equip students for various Competitive Examinations such as IAS, KAS, IPS, IFS,
NET and SET, Banking Services etc.
Centre for Proficiency Development and Placement Service (CPDPS)
Today, against the backdrop of globalization, candidates with proficiency for employability
have manifold opportunities for placements. Proficiency is the key to employability,
individual excellence and social involvement. To gain an overall proficiency, students need to
be equipped with a variety of skills such as communication skills, language competency,
analytical skills, application skills, organizational skills, inter-personal skills, innovative
skills, entrepreneurial skills, etc. Keeping in view the need for systematizing the activities of
skill development, proficiency enhancement, and personality development, and establishing
liaisons for placements, the University of Mysore has established the Centre for Proficiency
Development and Placement Service (CPDPS). The Centre keeps liaison with different
Institutions, Industries, Government Departments and such other organizations, and collects
information about job opportunities and creates and maintains up-to-date database in this
respect. It facilitates unemployed graduates and postgraduates so that they could be placed in
different sectors through on-campus and off-campus interviews, and other modes of selection
processes.
Employment, Information and Guidance Bureau
The University Employment, Information and Guidance Bureau, located in the University
Library building at Manasagangotri provides information on courses and careers. Pamphlets
and booklets are displayed at the Bureau Office. Lectures and seminars are arranged in
various colleges to highlight employment opportunities. Information about courses in other
universities within the country and abroad is also provided. Students can register their names
for employment assistance at the Bureau.
Health Centre(s)
There are two Health Centers - one located on Maharaja‟s College campus and the other at
the Manasagangotri campus of the University of Mysore, to take care of the medical needs of
the students, faculty and staff of the University.
International Centre
The International Centre is located at the University College of Fine Arts at Manasagangotri.
This is a single-window system facilitating the academic requirements of foreign students. It
provides guidance and counseling to foreign students regarding admission to various courses
in the University, besides assisting them in matters relating to eligibility, admissions, VISA,
residential permits, bonafide certificates, etc.
Internet Access
The Manasagangotri campus and all postgraduate departments and library have wired and
wireless internet browsing facilities. More details can be had from ICD (Information
Communication Division), Department of Studies in Computer Science.
K-SET Centre
The UGC has prescribed that a person aspiring to become an Assistant Professor in
Universities / Colleges has to qualify in NET (National Eligibility Test) / SET (State
Eligibility Test). The UGC and Government of Karnataka have identified University of
Mysore as a Nodal Agency to conduct Karnataka SET (K-SET) for Lecturership and this K-
SET Centre is located in Moulya Bhavan, behind Crawford Hall, University of Mysore,
Mysuru. Details regarding the K-SET examination are available on the K-SET Centre website
www.kset.uni-mysore.ac.in.
Library
The University Library located on the Manasagangotri campus caters to the needs of students,
research scholars and faculty of the University. More than 75,000 bound volumes of journals
and nearly six lakh reference and textbooks are available here. The library also enables access
to 18000 e-books, 7500 e-journals and online public access catalogue. The following services
are provided by the library:

Inter-library loan facility.
In-house photocopying facility.
Textbook reference.
Textbook loan service.
Digital Information Resource Centre.
Centre for Information Resources for Competitive Examinations.
Access is enabled to more than 7500 UGC-Infonet Journals and 18000 e-books.
Assistive technologies have been installed to facilitate access to information resources
for visually challenged students.
Inflibnet services.
The Library is kept open between 8 AM and 8 PM on all working days, throughout the year,
except on holidays. Departmental libraries are also available in some of the post-graduate
departments.
Postal Services
India Post is running two Post Offices, one at the Manasagangotri campus and the other at
Crawford Hall with savings/recurring deposits, telephone and Speed Post services.
Scholarships
The State and Central Governments have been awarding a number of scholarships to
meritorious and deserving students. Subject scholarships and endowment scholarships are
also available. In addition, special scholarships for children of political sufferers, defence
personnel and physically challenged are available. Students belonging to economically
weaker sections of the society have the benefit of free studentships.
Special Cell for SC/ ST
There is a Special Cell to look after the welfare of SC/ST students. The cell also awards
fellowships to students for carrying out research. Special coaching classes are conducted for
the benefit of SC/ST students appearing for competitive examinations, such as IAS, KAS,
IPS, NET and K-SET. Training is offered in the application of computer techniques as well.
Bridge-courses are conducted for promoting communication skills, writing and oratory skills.
The Cell has a good library facility with books on general knowledge and computers.
Financial assistance is also provided to students of the postgraduate departments through the
state directorate of social welfare.
Sports Facilities
A separate Directorate of Physical Education looks after the sports activities. The
postgraduate sports council looks after sports activity in the Manasagangotri campus. The
University of Mysore has vast sports fields, cricket stadium, tennis courts, gymnasium and a
well-maintained swimming pool that cater to the needs of students, faculty and sports lovers
of the city. Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Gangotri Glades and Three Indoor stadiums are
also available.
Student Welfare
A separate Directorate of Student Welfare located at EMMRC building at Manasagangotri
campus, looks after the student welfare programmes in the University. The students are
encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities, such as literary and cultural competitions,
Inter-Collegiate and Inter-University competitions. The State/ Zonal/ National/ International
Youth Festivals are also arranged from time to time.
Administrative Office
The Administrative Office of the University is located in Manasagangotri campus. This office
looks after the admission, academic, scholarship and supportive facilities of the PG students.
Transport Services
The KSRTC plies city buses to the campus from all corners of the city with a frequency of 20
minutes. The campus is about 6 kms. from the Central Bus Station and 3 kms. from the City
Railway Station.
Special Provision
Supernumerary seats in P.G.Courses for the children of those farmers from Karnataka who
suicide under the pressure of debts only and have to submit relevant documents.
University Complaint Committee and Sensitization to Prevention and Redressal of
Sexual Harassment
As per UGC guidelines, the university has constituted an Apex Body of SPARSH
(Sensitization to Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment) to emphasize the
commitment of the University to provide a workplace free of gender-based discrimination,
sexual harassment and other acts of gender– based violence and to promote an environment in
the workplace which will raise awareness about gender-based discrimination and prevent
sexual harassment and other acts of gender-based violence.
The University has also constituted University Complaint Committee (UCC) as per the recent
guidelines of the UGC to comply with the directives of the Supreme Court enjoining all
employees to develop and implement a policy against sexual harassment at the workplace, to
evolve a permanent mechanism for prevention and redressal of gender-based discrimination,
sexual harassment and other acts of gender-based violence and to ensure that the provisions
of the statutes are implemented in letter and spirit.
Women‟s Facilities Centre
The University has an independent Women‟s Facilities Centre located next to the Department
of Studies in Computer Science at Manasagangotri campus. This is meant for women students
commuting from different places who need common resting facility.
Anti-Ragging
The University of Mysore has zero tolerance to ragging which is a punishable offence. Every
student has to sign a declaration that he/she will not indulge in any form of ragging and other
unlawful activities.
No Smoking Area
All the postgraduate campuses coming under the jurisdiction of the University of Mysore are
declared “No Smoking Areas” and any violation in this regard would invite severe
punishment.
Hostel Facilities
The University maintains seven Men‟s hostels and four Women‟s hostels as detailed below.

Hostel accommodation is not guaranteed to all the students. Students who pursue only
Diploma / Certificate courses are not eligible for hostel facilities except students pursuing two
year postgraduate Diploma courses.
Aadhar Registration
As per instructions from the Government, all financial benefits to eligible students like
reimbursement of examination/tuition fees, scholarships, etc., shall be transfered directly
through bank, linked to AADHAR number. Students shall open a bank account and link this
to their AADHAR number for availing such benefits. Details have to be provided in the
Application form. Those who do not have AADHAR Number/Bank account are encouraged
to get AADHAR Number and link it to their bank account.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
Candidates applying for admission to Master’s Degree / Postgraduate diploma courses must
have obtained a minimum of 45% (40% in case of SC/ ST and Category-I candidates) of
marks in Cognate/Optional subjects put together from all the years of the examinations of the
course. However, deviations, if any, are mentioned in the table below against specific
courses. SC, ST, Cat-I students shall be given 5% relaxation in eligibility marks.
In case a candidate has taken longer than the prescribed duration to pass the qualifying course, a
deduction of 3% from the percentage of the aggregate of marks of Cognate/Optional subjects for
every additional year shall be applied and the candidates must have obtained the minimum marks
prescribed even after such deduction, to become eligible for admission.
Entrance Examination is Compulsory for all postgraduate degree courses for all candidates
except foreign nationals with foreign degree. Candidates have to apply and appear for entrance
exam separately for separate courses, except M.B.A., M.C.A. M.Tech (CCT) and M.Tech (CST)
for which candidates have to contact KEA.
Note: The on-line application, submitted by a candidate without knowing the eligibility of
admission to a particular course, will not be considered, even if the entrance exam is taken

Committee. The Admission Committee may conduct an
English language competence test if required. On the basis
of requisite English language standard, the candidate will
be provisionally admitted.
(e) The intake for the course shall be 60 (sixty) in each
section and 10 seats for foreign nationals in each section.
(f) Reservation of seats in admission for SC/ST and Other
Backward Classes (OBC) as contemplated by the

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
(a) Under Scheme „A‟ and Scheme „B‟
The intake for Scheme „A‟ is fixed by the University and Scheme „B‟ seats consist of not
more than 50% of the seats available under Scheme „A‟ for each course. Reservations to
an extent of 15%, 3% and 4% of seats are earmarked respectively for SC, ST and
Category-I candidates and additional two seats are available for foreign nationals. All
applicants will be considered both under Schemes „A‟ and „B‟. All the admissions,
including those under Scheme „B‟, are made strictly in accordance with merit-cum-
reservation.
Note: 1. 8% of the Scheme-A intake seats shall be given to – If he/she has studied in an
educational institution or educational institutions in such local area for a period of
not less than ten consecutive academic years (without break) ending with the
academic year in which he appeared or, as the case may be, first appeared for the
relevant qualifying examinations; or for a candidate should have from:

(b) Courses through KEA
All admissions for Courses through Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka
Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore will be made by the KEA directly.
(c) Submission of Application for Admission
Candidates who are applying for various courses offered at the Postgraduate Centres in
Manasagangotri, Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajanagara and also for Constituent Colleges /
affiliated colleges / Government and Autonomous Colleges should follow the following
procedure.
However, applications for admission to MBA course at Manasagangotri, Mysuru, PG Centre
Mandya and Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Post Graduate Centre, University of Mysore at
Chamarajanagara and M.Tech., CCT & CST, M.C.A. courses offered at Manasagangotri
campus, may be obtained from the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), 18th Cross,
Malleswaram, Bangalore - 560 003 and filled in application along with necessary enclosures
be submitted to KEA only.
(d) Procedures for submitting application for admission
1. Filing the application for admission is strictly by ONLINE. No other method of filing
the application for admission is permitted by the University. Candidates are advised
to see the eligibility conditions for admission to a particular course before filing.
Equivalent degrees may not be considered unless other-wise specified in the
eligibility criteria.
2. Fee for submitting an application per every subject is Rs.350/- and the remittance of
this fee is by e-payment / online payment only.
3. The candidate should have appeared for entrance examination in that subject for
which he/she submits the application for admission, after ensuring the eligibility
conditions.
Note: The following candidates can submit the applications for admission directly without
the entrance examination requirement.
i) Foreign nationals with foreign degree.
ii) Foreign nationals with Indian degrees for MCA, MBA, M.Tech in Computer
Cognition Technology, M.Tech in Computer Science Technology
iii) Candidates with GATE/PGCET scores for M.Tech in Material Science and
Technology and M.Tech in Urban and Rural Planning.
4. The candidate should clearly verify the eligibility conditions before submitting the
application for a particular subject from the prospectus available in the University
Website www.uni-mysore.ac.in
5. Only one application format need to be filled up by a candidate for all subjects. The
candidate has to pay application fee for each subject separately. However for every
subject the candidate opts, he/she should compulsorily enter the names of
Department/Centers/Institution/College in the order of his/her preference for
considering him/her for admission to that subject.
6. Once the entries are completed by the candidate, the system allows the candidate to
edit / to make changes if required.
7. Once the candidate submits COMPLETION status and opts for PRINT, then the
system prepares completed applications, one for every subject the candidate has opted
for admission.
For example if a candidate has opted for HISTORY, POLITICAL SCIENCE AND
ECONOMICS then the system generates three different completed applications,
respectively one for each of the subject the candidate has opted.
9. A candidate will be considered for admission in every subject that he/ she has opted for
and the provisional allotment of Department/Centre/ Institution/ College will be strictly
in the order of preferences the candidate has entered. Therefore while submitting the
application form the candidate should carefully enter the preferences of Department/
Centre/Institution/ College for admission to PG programme for every subject. Changes
in the preference shall not be allowed once the application is submitted.
10. Once PRINT application progress is done, the candidate should download the
application, get the application physically printed, should necessarily enclose all the
documents/certificates- Marks cards of all semesters, category claim certificates and
other certificates/ documents which are necessary to substantiate the claim, affix his/
her signature on application and also execute a declaration jointly with his/her
parent/guardian in the printed application itself.
11. The candidate should HAND OVER the duly signed printed application form ( for
every subject )together with all enclosures to the Chairman of Selection Committee in
that subject in the Department concerned of University of Mysore, Mysuru (Almost all
departments are in Manasagangotri campus)
12. Candidates claiming seats under more than one special category such as NCC, NSS
sports etc., shall submit as many copies of application as the number of claims to each
subject concerned department. In such cases, candidate can take up the Photo copies of
the printed application of the subject concerned.
13. Handing over the printed application form together with its enclosures is a MUST to
claim admission. Merely filing the application on the System is not sufficient, although
it is absolutely necessary. The last date to submit the printed version of the application
together with all enclosures is 17th
July 2017 before 5 PM. Application without
appropriate/relevant enclosures is liable to be rejected.

(f) Instructions to Candidates for Admission
1. Applications received after the Due Date will not be entertained.
2. Application with incomplete or incorrect information is liable for rejection.
3. All Original Documents should be produced at the time of admission.
Original Degree marks cards and other Certificates produced at the time of admission
will not be returned until completion of the Course or cancellation of admission.
Hence, sufficient photocopies of these may be preserved before submitting the
originals.
4. Four stamp-size photographs should be produced.
5. Foreign students are required to produce eligibility certificate, student VISA and
passport at the time of admission.
6. A student admitted to a Degree / Postgraduate Degree Course is not permitted to
study any other Degree / Postgraduate Degree Course simultaneously in this or any
other University (regular, morning or evening, correspondence).
7. If a candidate fails to get a seat under Scheme „A‟, he/she will be automatically
considered under Scheme „B‟.
8. Self-Attested copies of the required certificates / marks cards or photostat copies of
certificates issued by the Competent Authority should be attached along with the
application. Originals should be produced only at the time of admission.
9. Latest Income Certificate obtained by competent authority shall only be enclosed.
10. NO SEPARATE INTIMATION WILL BE SENT TO THE SELECTED / WAIT-
LISTED CANDIDATES. The lists will be announced on the Notice Board of the
respective Departments and on the University of Mysore website: http://www.uni-
mysore.ac.in. Admissions are made as per the calendar given on the back inner
cover of the Prospectus.
(g) Information for selected and wait-listed candidates
The list of Selected candidates and candidates under Waiting List will be displayed on the
Notice Board of the Departments concerned and on the University of Mysore website:
http://www.uni-mysore.ac.in. No postal intimation will be sent.
REFUND OF FEES
Fee once paid will not be refunded, excepting in the following cases (for both Scheme „A‟
& Scheme „B‟) :
1. When the course is discontinued by the University for unavoidable reasons (such
as number of candidates is less than five).
2. When excess fee is collected.
3. When fee is paid more than once for the same purpose.
4. When a candidate gets a transfer to another Department and the vacancy in the
earlier Department is filled by another candidate, the surplus difference (if any)
will be refunded.
5. When the admission is cancelled due to a mistake by the Department/ Institution.
6. A student who left the program / department because of his / her own reason, is
not entertained for refund of fee. However, if the vacancy created is in case filled
up by admitting another student then the leaving out student can get the fee
refunded.
NOTE:
In case students are eligible for refund because of any of the above, such students are
advised to contact the concerned sections (SC/ST cell, Dean, Students welfare and
General section of the administration).
