Point out the green grass, the red, pink and yellow flowers, the brown trunk of trees and the different colored houses. After the walk, have your child draw and color the different things you observed. Have your child dictate to record what they saw.  Shopping with Colors Going to the grocery store can be a great opportunity to learn more about colors. Emphasize colors when going shopping, for example, “Let’s get some red tomatoes. What color are those potatoes? We need to buy 4 brown potatoes. Notice how there are different kinds of onions. We need green onions.” In no time your child will know his colors.  Sorting Game Give your child several pie tins and a bag of objects (e.g., magnetic letters, fruits, and vegetables). Let your child sort the objects by color.
