Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tyndall with Rev. Dean Schroeder officiating. Pianist will be Rachael Starwalt with special music by Scott, John and Paul Meyer. Inter- ment will follow in the Tyndall Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin’s granddaughters and ac- tive pallbearers will be Marvin’s grandsons. Online condolences may be sent at www.goglinfh.com. Marvin was born on March 24, 1920 on the family farm near Elk- ton, SD to Arthur, Sr. and Ella (Sandkamp) Meyer. Marvin at- tended country school in Brook- ings County. He attended Elkton High School for 3 years before graduating from Watertown High School in 1937. After attending SDSU for one year, he moved to California and worked at Lock- heed Aircraft from 1940-1942. He returned to SD to work on the family farm near Watertown. On September 10, 1944 he married Avis R. A. Mork (Morky) in Granite Falls, MN. From that day on, you rarely heard one name without the other — “Marv & Morky” were a team like no other. Marvin began his lifelong career with George A. Hormel & Company working in Austin, MN and Mitchell, SD. He opened the first hog buying station in Tyndall in August 1949, which he oper- ated for 37 years until his retire- ment in 1985. During these years he enjoyed many friendships with local farmers. Marvin and Morky moved to Brookings in 2004 and returned to Tyndall to live in the North Point apart- ments in the summer of 2011. Marv and Morky celebrated a wonderful partnership of 67 years of marriage. For their first anniversary they went camping in a tent and that was the begin- ning of over 60 years of camping and traveling throughout the US. Dancing, fishing and gardening were times enjoyed together. Marv was an avid hunter and col- lector of antique Red Wing stoneware. Marvin served in many ways to support his church and com- munity. He was a 50 year member of the Tyndall Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, Tyndall City Council member and president of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he also served as treas- urer for 25 years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Avis Meyer, Tyn- dall, SD, his sons Roger (Van), Yankton, SD; Larry (Anne) Yank- ton, SD; David (Patricia), Brook- ings, SD and his daughter Julie (Michael) Heyl, Lincoln, NE. Marvin’s legacy of faith and love will continue in his grand- children, Rachael (Chris) Olm- stead, Michael Meyer (Laura) and Colleen Meyer; Jennifer (Jeremy) Nolan and Amy Meyer (Larry Barker); Andrea (Brian) Schmidt, Scott Meyer (Taylor), John and Paul Meyer; Eric, Alex and Emily Heyl, and 6 great-grandchildren. VanDerhule, age 94, of Yankton passed away on Friday, January 6, 2010 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yank- ton after a brief battle with can- cer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at the United Church of Christ- Congregational, Yankton, with Dr. Richard Jensen officiating. To- gether they owned and operated Van- Derhule Moving & Storage Company for 37 years. Donelda and Milford were char- ter members of Hillcrest Country Club. She was a past Worthy Ma- tron and 50-year member of East- ern Star, member of Questers, and Yankton Women’s Club, and an avid bridge player. She and Mil- ford were active members of their community and enthusiastic sup- porters of Yankton. Baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church of Yankton, SD, Donelda joined the United Church of Christ-Congregational after marriage where she taught Sunday school and served many years as a member of the UCC Women’s Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milford, and brother, Richard Helm. Meyer, age 91, of Tyndall, SouthDakota passed away on Thurs-day, January 5, 2012 at The GoodSamaritan Home in Tyndall.

Funeral services will be heldat 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January9 at St. John’s Lutheran Church inTyndall with Rev. Dean Schroederofficiating. Pianist will be RachaelStarwalt with special music byScott, John and Paul Meyer. Inter-ment will follow in the TyndallCemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will beMarvin’s granddaughters and ac-tive pallbearers will be Marvin’sgrandsons.

Marvin was born on March 24,1920 on the family farm near Elk-ton, SD to Arthur, Sr. and Ella(Sandkamp) Meyer. Marvin at-tended country school in Brook-ings County. He attended ElktonHigh School for 3 years beforegraduating from Watertown HighSchool in 1937. After attendingSDSU for one year, he moved toCalifornia and worked at Lock-heed Aircraft from 1940-1942. Hereturned to SD to work on thefamily farm near Watertown.

On September 10, 1944 hemarried Avis R. A. Mork (Morky)in Granite Falls, MN. From thatday on, you rarely heard onename without the other — “Marv& Morky” were a team like noother. Marvin began his lifelongcareer with George A. Hormel &Company working in Austin, MNand Mitchell, SD. He opened thefirst hog buying station in Tyndallin August 1949, which he oper-ated for 37 years until his retire-ment in 1985. During these yearshe enjoyed many friendshipswith local farmers. Marvin andMorky moved to Brookings in2004 and returned to Tyndall tolive in the North Point apart-ments in the summer of 2011.

Marv and Morky celebrated awonderful partnership of 67years of marriage. For their firstanniversary they went campingin a tent and that was the begin-ning of over 60 years of campingand traveling throughout the US.Dancing, fishing and gardeningwere times enjoyed together.Marv was an avid hunter and col-lector of antique Red Wingstoneware.

Marvin served in many ways

to support his church and com-munity. He was a 50 year memberof the Tyndall Rotary Club and aPaul Harris Fellow, Tyndall CityCouncil member and president ofSt. John’s Lutheran Churchwhere he also served as treas-urer for 25 years.

Grateful for having shared hislife are his wife, Avis Meyer, Tyn-dall, SD, his sons Roger (Van),Yankton, SD; Larry (Anne) Yank-ton, SD; David (Patricia), Brook-ings, SD and his daughter Julie(Michael) Heyl, Lincoln, NE.

Marvin’s legacy of faith andlove will continue in his grand-children, Rachael (Chris) Olm-stead, Michael Meyer (Laura) andColleen Meyer; Jennifer (Jeremy)Nolan and Amy Meyer (LarryBarker); Andrea (Brian) Schmidt,Scott Meyer (Taylor), John andPaul Meyer; Eric, Alex and EmilyHeyl, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Remembering a life well livedwill be his siblings Delwin(Eloise) Meyer, Huntsville, AL;Lon (Miriam) Meyer, Phoenix, AZ;and two sisters-in-law RuthElshere, Watertown, SD and Eu-nice Meyer, South Shore, SD.

Marvin was preceded in deathby his parents, three sisters, andfour brothers.

Funeral services will be 10:30a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012,at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, Yankton, with Dr.Richard Jensen officiating. Burialwill be in the Yankton City Ceme-tery.

She met the love of her life,Milford VanDerhule, at YanktonHigh School and they were mar-ried, July 11, 1937. They madetheir home and raised their family

in Yankton. To-gether they ownedand operated Van-Derhule Moving &Storage Companyfor 37 years.

Donelda andMilford were char-ter members ofHillcrest CountryClub. She was apast Worthy Ma-

tron and 50-year member of East-ern Star, member of Questers, andYankton Women’s Club, and anavid bridge player. She and Mil-ford were active members of theircommunity and enthusiastic sup-porters of Yankton.

Baptized and confirmed in theFirst Lutheran Church of Yankton,SD, Donelda joined the UnitedChurch of Christ-Congregationalafter marriage where she taughtSunday school and served manyyears as a member of the UCCWomen’s Fellowship.

She was preceded in death byher parents, husband, Milford,and brother, Richard Helm.

Beloved matriarch of her ex-tended family, Donelda is sur-vived by her children, Vernon“Skip” (Judy) VanDerhule, Yank-ton, SD, Ross (Brooke) VanDer-hule, Sioux Falls, SD, and Jane
