ATTENTION NEW AND RETURNING VOLUNTEERS:

ATTENTION NEW AND RETURNING

VOLUNTEERS: Any adult volunteering in the Diocese of San Bernardino needs to have completed safe environment training within the last

five years. The current program for adult volunteers is called “Protecting God’s Children®” by VIRTUS. This training can be taken on-line on the VIRTUS website. However, due to the content, taking a live session is strongly encouraged. Fortunately, you can take the training at a location and time that is convenient for you any-where in the diocese. You must register for training through the VIRTUS website. Registration for either type of training is re-quired. Please go to www.virtus.org to see the list of local training sessions and to register. Walk-ins may not be able to be accom-modated as space is limited at most training sites. Any volunteer whose last training was completed in 2011 or earli-er must complete this new training in order to continue volun-teering.

Please call Jenny Campbell at (909)987-9312 for information or questions about how to register.

Summer is here … so please be mindful of your

Life by the Spirit - You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Marriage Moments:

“I will follow you." (Luke 9:57) In couple dancing more often the man is the lead. Marriage, howev-er, is more than a dance. It works best when both are adept at both leading and following as circum-stances and talents dictate. How do you balance this in your mar-riage?

"Love watches. A mother prolongs her watches by her baby's cradle till late at night. After lulling him to sleep, she continues her vigil, all the while covering his soul with her silent prayers and, with anxious concern, thinking of his future no less ob-scure than the night around the house. "Jesus cannot permit even one mother to surpass Him in love and tender solicitude. At night, when His children are resting in sleep, He watches over them, covers them with His prayers, and protects them, 'as a hen gathers her young under her wings.'" - Excerpt from Jose Guadalupe Trevino's "The Holy Eucharist", on the love of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament

Ahora, no después.

I want to congratulate all the men out there who are working diligently

to be good fathers whether they are stepfathers,

or biological fathers or just spiritual fathers.

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time 26 June 2016

RCIA - RITE Of CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

Is God calling you to become Catholic? It begins with an awareness...or stirring in one’s heart for something more. It could be a curiosity or a sense of long for fulfillment. Maybe it’s God calling you to explore the life of faith, love, and justice within the community of the Catholic Church. The RCIA process offers an opportunity for you to learn and ask ques-tions about the Catholic faith. It is primarily for the un-baptized, but also includes a special tract for those baptized in another faith tradition. We also invite inquiring Catholics to also come and join us for refreshers on what they learned as children. We meet all year round.

Please come and join us Tuesday evenings from 7:30PM to 9:30PM in

the Parish Library. For more information on the process, please call Danny or Vicki Centurioni

at 909-987-7971

(RCIA) Adapted for Children and Teens Children (ages 7-12) and Teens (ages 13-17) who are interested in joining the Catholic Church are invited to participate in the RCIA adapted for Children and Teens. The goal is to provide a means of conversion suited to the student’s age and understanding, and to prepare them for the reception of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation). Parents and sponsors share a loving journey with the student’s by attending sessions with them and assisting them as they learn about Jesus and the Church, and ensuring that they experience a Catholic environment in the home. To participate more fully in this journey, we encouraged you to attend scheduled retreats, weekly Mass, special cele-brations, and the Easter Liturgy. Our sessions begin in September and end in June.

Sessions held every Wed.5:30-7pm. – (JPII, 2nd Fl) Feel free to contact us anytime throughout the year for program information

RCIA - Teaching Moments: What does the Church teach about “Angels”?

A spiritual, personal, and immortal creature with intelli-gence and free will, who glorifies God without ceasing and who serves God as a messenger of his saving plan, Angels have been present since creation and

throughout the history of salvation. They closed the earthly paradise (Gen 3: 24); protected Lot (Gen 19: 15); saved Hagar and her child (Gen 21: 17), just to site a few examples. Finally, the Angel Gabriel announced the birth of John the Baptist (LK 1: 11) and that of Jesus himself (LK 1: 26). From the Incarna-tion to the Ascension the life of Jesus is surrounded by adoration and service of angels. They will be present at Christ’s return, which they will announce (MT 24: 30-31). See the Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraphs # 328-336 for more about Angels.

Sacrament of the Sick The Sacrament of the Sick is a Sacrament offered by the Church for healing in sick-ness. This sickness may be physical, mental or emotional. Anyone of any age can receive the Sacrament as often as needed, but not usually not less than a 3 month period. Unfortunately, many still refer to this Sacrament as the “Last Rites” and often call the parish for a priest when an individual is critical and close to end of life. The Church has not used the term “Last Rites” since the Vatican II Council; asking the faithful to call for a priest when in the need of Healing. One of the realities of the Church today is a priest shortage. If a call is made to the Church for the Sacrament, when someone is close to the end of life, there might not be enough time for a priest to reach the person prior to them passing away, or a priest might not be available, at that important moment. Only a priest can offer the Sacrament of the Sick. A Deacon is not permitted to administer the rite of this Sacrament because it includes the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Church will do everything possible, in case of an emergency. However, it may be difficult if it is “last minute”. May this be a reminder to take ad-vantage of the healing Sacraments of the Church ~ For Sacrament of the Sick …

A Summer Blessing

May you walk with God this summer in whatever you do, wherever you go.

Walking with God means... walking with honesty and with courage.

Walking with love and respect and concern for the feelings of others.

May you talk to God this summer on every day and in every situation.

Talking with God means... praying words of praise for the beauty of creation. Saying prayers of thanks for friends and good times.

Asking God's help in all your decisions.

Expressing sorrow when you have failed. May you talk with God every day. Amen.

An Invitation to become members of

our “Marriage Preparation Team”

This is your personal invita-

tion to join us as we help guide engaged couples toward a lifetime of love. This spiritu-ally rewarding ministry is completely flexible with your own time commitments while still serving as an excellent way for you to give back to another couple – as well as to God and His Church – the gifts you have received as a God-loving couple. As part of our parish’s Marriage Preparation Team, you will:

Meet six times over a several month period with an engaged couple that has been assigned to you.

Use diocesan-approved workbooks to guide the couple through a variety of important, life-affirming topics.

Share your own love relationship with that couple on a one-on-one level.

Affirm how God’s presence in your relationship has strengthened your marriage.

Join the other Prep Team members for occasional fellowship and idea-sharing.

Our Parish’s Marriage Preparation ministry is designed to help engaged couples discov-er a bit of “what marriage is all about.” It doesn’t provide all the answers nor lecture with statements like, “You ought to do this” or “you must do that.” Instead, through honest and open sharing with the couples you mentor, they will come to know that the gift of love is the greatest gift of all, and that their lives as a Sacramental couple will have lasting meaning as they journey through their married years. If you are interested in joining us or in learning more about this wonderful opportunity for service to the people of God, please contact Alex & Jean Arballo at (909) 815-2244. St. Peter & St. Paul Parish – and you – will be blessed by your participation.

Why a Jubilee of now? "Here, then, is the reason for the Jubilee: because this is the time for mercy. It is the favorable time to heal wounds, a time not to be weary of meeting all those who are waiting to see and to touch with their hands the signs of the closeness of God, a time to offer everyone, everyone, the way of forgiveness and reconcili-ation. May the Mother of God open our eyes, so that we may compre-hend the task to which we have been called; and may she obtain for us the grace to experience this Jubilee of Mercy as faithful and fruitful witnesses of Christ."

Ministry to the Homebound, Sick & Elderly

Our Liturgy and celebration of the Eucharist contin-ues after Mass, as our Ministers of Holy Commun-ion bring the Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass with the Community. Trained and

commissioned lay persons serve Holy Communion to those confined to their homes, facilities or hospitals. Our Ministers have a compassionate ear to listen, provide spiritual support and prayer. If you are unable to attend Mass and are in need of a Homebound Minister, or if you are aware of a parishioner who would like to receive Holy Communion, contact Debby Leonardo to arrange for weekly visits from our Homebound Ministry. To serve as a Sick & Homebound Minister, please contact Debby Leonar-do, Pastoral Care, at 909-987-9312 x 302, for more information.
