Shiplap and Open V Cladding
As the name suggests, shiplap cladding earned itsname from the way ships were built in the past.
• Shiplap and Open V cladding have a rebate at thebottom of the plank and a scalloped profile at thetop.
• Shiplap and Open V cladding can be fittedhorizontally or vertically
• Available in smooth gloss white finish
• Ideal for dormer roof extension and gable end.
Guaranteed to stay whiteProlonged exposure to Ultra Violet (UV) light from thesun can damage our skin – and it has the same effecton PVC causing it to degrade over time. Freefoamwhite cladding is manufactured using a naturalmineral called titanium dioxide – the same product isused in sun cream! It guarantees white claddingproducts to stay bright white for up to 10 years.

Important Information
VENTILATION
Continuous ventilation from the bottom to the top of the installation is critical to the performance of the cladding.A minimum of 27mm ventilation space should be allowed between the cladding and the breather membrane, insulation or wall.

DORMER WINDOWS
Cladding is ideal for a dormer elevation. For fullfitting instructions See freefoam.com/downloads
GABLE END
Install ventilated trim and cover trim to gableangle.
Use Ventilated Trim (FC311E3) for edge of gable.
Ensure that all installations comply with localBuilding Regulations and general good buildingpractice. Consult you local Planning Departmentfor guidance.
MAINTENANCE
Regular Inspection
Under normal conditions Freefoam claddingrequires minimal maintenance. Environmentalimpacts may effect the visual appearance of thefaçade. An annual inspection of the ventialtion gaps, joints and fixings is recommended. Detection andrepair of possible damage ensures longer life forour cladding.
Cleaning
Clean Freefoam cladding with cold or lukewarmwater. If necessary add mild household cleaningdetergent that does not contain solvents. You canalso use High Pressure washer (on half power) toclean cladding. Do not use solvents or aggressivecleaning products. Start at the top. At least once ayear is recommended.
Impact from Nature
Coastal locations are subject to more extremeconditions due to salt laden moist air and wind-blown sand. We recommend more regularinspections in such locations. Pay particularattention to corners of cladding, around windowsand doors particularly those facing the prevailingwind.
STORAGE
• Prior to installation cladding should be stored outof direct sunlight.
• Check the cladding surface for damage prior toinstallation.
• Complaints of surface defects will not be acceptedafter installation is complete.

INSTALLATION NOTES
Fixing
Only use corrosion resistant screws for fixingcladding planks and accessories. Cladding shouldonly be installed at temperatures within the rangeof 5° - 25°C.
Expansion
The recommended minimum expansion gaps at theends and between cladding planks (See Diagram11,12,13 & 14) should be strictly adhered to. Aminimum of 27mm
Breaks
Where a cladding panel exceeds 6m in height, ahorizontal break should be provided by use of adrip trim to facilitate ventilation openings. Seefigure 17a. For installations greater than 10m long avertical break will be required. Vertical breaksmitigate any cumulative expansion. Horizontalbreaks aid cooling of cavity and in some cases arerequired as cavity breaks for preventing spread offlame between storeys, such as in cases wherethere are different occupancies.
Finishing
Where required fit a cover strip or drip trim toprevent rain from entering the cavity at the top ofthe installation.
The guidance for provision of expansion andventilation provided in this document applies in allcases including windows, doors, gables ends, dormers etc.
