Dress Up Your SaladSummer salad season is under

way, but before you grab a bottle ofdressing at the store, considermaking your own.

Like most homemade foods, homemade dressings are a healthieroption, and often less costly. Besidesadjusting ingredients to suit yourpersonal taste, you can also controlthe amount of fat, sugar andsodium that goes into your recipe, not to mention avoiding theadditives and preservatives found inmost store-bought dressings.

Here are some quick and easyrecipes from ABeautifulMess.com toget you started:

~ Ranch. Whisk together 3/4cup mayonnaise, 3/4 cup Greekyogurt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 to 2

tablespoons lemon juice, 1 cupbuttermilk, a handful of choppedgreen onions or chives, 1 tablespoonminced garlic, and salt and pepperto taste.

~ Honey Dijon. Mix 3/4 cuphoney, 1/2 cup Dijon mustard and2 tablespoons white wine vinegar.

~ Cilantro lime. Mix 6 ouncesolive oil, 3 to 4 tablespoons choppedcilantro and the juice of one lime.

You can add herbs and spices ofyour choice to any of these recipes.Store the dressings in a closed bottleor jar in the refrigerator for up totwo weeks.
